Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this letter in regards to the event that I had organized on 02 August 2026, in your hotel at Maharaja International, Brampton, Ontario for my company.
I am very pleased to say that I had a really good experience with your hotel for the service you provide and the quality of the food was perfect. Moreover, the decoration in your hotel was excellent. each corner of the hotel was cleaned and shining. Apart from that the facility of sound system in exhibition hall was also incredible. Everyone present in the exhibition hall was able to hear properly without any disturbance.
I would like to give my suggestions for some area that can enhance more value to your business. such as, your waiters were wears normal cloth on the day of event. That would be great If you arrange one dress code for your all the waiters and supervisor or managers so that people should know if they have any concern they can reach out to the right person by recognizing through uniform.
I hope you will work on my suggestion.
yours sincerely

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points: providing details about the event, mentioning positive aspects of the hotel, and suggesting improvements. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, though the development of the suggestions could be slightly more detailed to reach a higher band. The purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning, and the structure follows the conventions of a formal request/feedback letter effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Apart from that', and 'such as' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The progression of ideas is easy to follow, and the letter maintains a consistent focus throughout. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, the positive feedback, the suggestions, and the closing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing for clear communication. There are some instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'enhance more value to your business' and 'wears normal cloth'. While the range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Spelling is generally accurate, but the word choice could be more sophisticated to better suit a professional context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'each corner... was cleaned' (should be 'clean'), 'your waiters were wears' (should be 'were wearing'), and 'arrange one dress code for your all the waiters' (should be 'for all your waiters'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede the overall meaning of the letter. Punctuation is generally acceptable, though some sentence boundaries could be improved for better flow.
