Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear sir,
I am writing to inquire the information and services provided by the Kings hotel to organize an event.
I am Faiza Akram the general manager of future trading company main offic Lahore Pakistan. Our company is going to organize an official prize distribution event on Saturday 12th August 2026. they would invite 200 people from different reginal offices. we will need a good quality stareio system and large stage.
I like hotel scenic beauty as it build on the top of the hill. Additionally it is quit sapacious which is favourable to organise a large events. Numeber of seats would be increase at sudden if demanded. Most interesting thing about the hotel is it provide the fresh food and high standard waiter services which is the main reason to chose this hotel as our upcoming venue.
However, I would like to highlight the few area where we want improvement. Firstly, car parking because the number of vehicles will definitely large so it is necessery to manage enough space for parking. Secondly, I have observe there is problem with quick cleanliness required during the event that is neglected by the staff many times. Therefore extra cleaning staff shpuld be appointed who work immidiatly.
I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
Yours fathfully,
Faiza Akram

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all three bullet points: providing event details, mentioning positive aspects of the hotel, and suggesting improvements. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the opening sentence is slightly confusing as it suggests you are inquiring about services rather than providing feedback on an event that has already been organized. While the ideas are relevant, the development is somewhat basic. To reach a higher band, ensure the purpose of the letter is clearly stated in the opening and provide more specific, professional detail regarding the event logistics and the nature of the requested improvements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the event details, the positive feedback, and finally the suggestions for improvement. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For instance, the transition 'Most interesting thing about the hotel is' feels a bit informal and disconnected. Additionally, some sentences are slightly disjointed due to grammatical errors, which occasionally disrupts the flow of ideas. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You use some relevant business-related terms like 'official prize distribution event' and 'venue'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'stareio' (stereo), 'sapacious' (spacious), 'reginal' (regional), 'necessery' (necessary), and 'immidiatly' (immediately). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the intended meaning. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and try to incorporate more precise collocations to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'it build on the top' (it is built), 'Numeber of seats would be increase' (would be increased), and 'I have observe' (I have observed). These errors are persistent and affect the accuracy of the writing. While you attempt to use complex structures, the control over verb tenses and passive voice is inconsistent. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will help improve your accuracy significantly.
