Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: providing event details, mentioning positive aspects of the hotel, and suggesting improvements. However, the development of these points is somewhat inconsistent. The opening is confusing, as you state you are writing to 'ask about event details' rather than reflecting on an event that has already been organised. The description of the venue and the suggestions for improvement are relevant, but the tone is occasionally informal and lacks the professional polish expected in a formal business letter. To improve, ensure your purpose is clearly stated in the introduction and maintain a consistent, professional tone throughout the correspondence.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter is organised into a single block of text, which makes it difficult to follow. IELTS letters should be structured into clear paragraphs for the introduction, body points, and conclusion. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'Apart from this', the flow between sentences is often disjointed due to grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. The lack of paragraphing significantly impacts the logical progression of your ideas. Using clear paragraph breaks for each bullet point would greatly enhance the readability and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally sufficient to convey the message, but there are several instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors. For example, 'participants counting about five hundred people' and 'I want to more place for adjust all the individual' are unnatural. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with more precise business terminology. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated collocations related to event management, such as 'accommodate' instead of 'adjust' and 'capacity' instead of 'place'. Additionally, ensure that your word forms are accurate (e.g., 'decorations' vs 'decorative').
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Issues include incorrect verb tenses ('I start this setup for last week'), missing articles ('on this event'), and sentence fragments ('Which helpful for me'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'when I personally visit the venue I sawe all things are perfect but notice one area'. To improve, focus on basic subject-verb agreement, consistent tense usage, and ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and main verb.
