Dear Sir / Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to inform you about the successful organized event that we had in your hotel last month.
As you know, last month April 14 we booked your hotel for the trade show of our company Cobots. We arranged this event to demonstrate the cobot machines to the visitors and for the participated competitive firms and got well respond from the visitors with new orders for our company.
The event was apparently successful and the place in hotel where we demonstrated our cobot robotic machine was the best place for the visitors to see. I would like to say because of this we got many new opportunities to enhance our business.
However, I would like to recommend a few improvements in your hotel. Firstly, the ventilation should be improve as I felt congestion in the area. Secondly, the carpet on the floor was having stain all over which was little embarrassing in front of customers and should be changed timely.
I would like to hearing back from you and feel free to ask for any other suggestions.
Best Regards
Robin

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt: providing details about the event, mentioning positive aspects of the hotel, and suggesting areas for improvement. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the event was successful, providing more specific details about the 'cobot' machines or the nature of the trade show would have strengthened the response. The suggestions for improvement are clear, but could be expanded slightly to explain the impact on your guests more fully. Overall, the task is fulfilled, but the depth of information is basic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' to organize your suggestions, which helps the reader follow your points. However, the transition between the event description and the feedback section is a bit abrupt. Additionally, some sentences are slightly disjointed, such as 'I would like to say because of this we got many new opportunities.' Improving the use of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would elevate the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'demonstrate', 'competitive firms', and 'ventilation'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice or minor errors, such as 'successful organized event' (should be 'successfully organized') and 'got well respond' (should be 'received a good response'). The phrase 'having stain all over' is also slightly unnatural. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'last month April 14' (missing preposition), 'should be improve' (should be 'improved'), and 'I would like to hearing back' (should be 'to hear back'). While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct verb forms after modal verbs like 'should' will help improve your accuracy.
