Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: providing event details, mentioning positive aspects of the hotel, and suggesting improvements. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the details about the event are brief, and the suggestion for the patio is vague ('do some changes'). To improve, you should provide more specific information, such as the nature of the event or the specific type of improvements needed for the patio. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the opening salutation 'Dear John' is inconsistent with the formal sign-off 'Yours faithfully'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Finally' to structure your argument. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between ideas is weak, such as the transition into the request for parking. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the link between the group enjoying the meal and the need for parking could be more explicitly stated to improve the logical progression of your ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on simple phrasing, such as 'more good looking' and 'give some suggestions'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'explain you this party will organize' instead of 'explain that this party will be organized'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary and ensure that your word choices are natural and contextually appropriate. For example, instead of 'more good looking', you could use 'aesthetically pleasing' or 'more inviting'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'on organize an event' (should be 'on organizing'), 'this party will organize' (should be 'will be organized'), and 'provide us a parking space' (should be 'provide us with'). Additionally, there are issues with verb forms and prepositions. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice would significantly improve your accuracy.
