Dear Sir / Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Manager,
I am writing to appreciate your service during the event we had last week for my company.
Last week on Friday we had a crucial meeting with our investors for our new project. We presented our organization's future plan for upcoming 5 years. It was on high priority that our clients could get full knowledge of the project so we can work together in the future. Eventually, it concluded as we thought without much problems.
A few things that I liked the most in your hotel is your staff and their service. They are polite, kind, understanding and they know what their guest could need so they are always ready to help immediately.
Although, the function was a success I would like to mention a few things which needs to be taken care of for instance, the parking space is not enough to accommodate people over 300 at a time due to this some of our guest had to park their vehicle on roadside.
I hope we get more chance to work together in the future.
Looking forward to hear from you.
Yours sincerely,
Sonam Prajapati

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task effectively. You provided clear details about the event, identified specific aspects of the hotel you appreciated, and offered a constructive suggestion regarding the parking facilities. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, ensuring the reader understands the purpose of your communication. To reach a higher band, you could provide slightly more specific detail about the event, such as the name of the project or the specific nature of the meeting, to add more depth to your response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each requirement, and a polite closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Although' and 'for instance' to link ideas. However, the progression between sentences could be smoother. Some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing is functional but could be more sophisticated. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your ideas more fluidly, ensuring that the relationship between your points is always explicit.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task. You use functional language like 'crucial meeting', 'accommodate', and 'investors'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'get full knowledge' (better: 'gain a comprehensive understanding') and 'without much problems' (should be 'without many problems'). The range is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but it lacks the more precise or 'less common' vocabulary that would elevate the response to a higher band. Focus on using more natural collocations and varied phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'which needs to be taken care of' (should be 'which need' to agree with 'things') and 'Looking forward to hear from you' (should be 'Looking forward to hearing from you'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation issues, such as missing commas after introductory phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and gerund usage after specific phrases.
