Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: providing details about the event, mentioning positive aspects of the hotel, and suggesting areas for improvement. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the development of ideas is somewhat hampered by linguistic errors. The purpose of the letter is clear from the outset. However, the response could be improved by providing more specific details about the event itself, such as the nature of the dinner or the specific date, to better satisfy the requirement to 'provide details'. Overall, the task is fulfilled, but the content remains somewhat superficial.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure of the request. There is a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'The ambience' and the awkward transition 'Although, I had great experience'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences are fragmented or lack smooth flow, which affects the overall progression of ideas. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs more attention to reach a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several spelling errors (e.g., 'peautiful', 'amenties', 'appreciatly') and word choice issues (e.g., 'we were so people', 'creations of nature'). While the student attempts to use descriptive language like 'breathtaking' and 'magnificent', the overall range is limited. The errors in word formation and spelling are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not fully impede communication. To improve, the student should focus on accurate word forms and more natural collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('the staff... is', 'rooms are clean... event hall also has restrooms are also spacious'), incorrect preposition usage ('on top of hill'), and awkward phrasing ('I really appreciatly if you work on that'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the persistent grammatical inaccuracies require the reader to work harder to interpret the intended message, which is characteristic of a band 5.0 level.
