Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to share our feedback about the event that was held on Wednesday 10th of august 2026.
There are several things which we loved about your hotel. Firstly, there are lot of space for the parking and there was an hotel employee who was there for the entire time to assist our staff members. Secondly, We noticed the cleanliness and safe environment, which enhance the energy of the event. Lastly, It was well maintained decoration and specially the big logo of our company's name, which looks so fantastic.
We would like to suggest you few things where you needs to improve. Starting with food quality, it was not that much good and tasty as we expected. Additionally, We found that there is a lack of management among the employees who was working there on that day, cause we have faced few problems regarding seating arrangement.
We look forward to working with your hotel in upcoming functions.
Your faithful,
Jaimin Padhiyar

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: providing event details, mentioning positive aspects, and suggesting improvements. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the mention of the event date is clear, but the 'details about the event' are limited to just the date and the company logo. The suggestions for improvement are relevant but could be more specific to help the manager take action. Overall, the task is fully addressed, but the depth of information provided is at a functional rather than an elaborate level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a distinct purpose. The use of cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Lastly', and 'Additionally' helps guide the reader through the points. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. For example, the transition between the cleanliness of the environment and the company logo is abrupt. Despite these minor issues, the progression of ideas is clear throughout the letter, and the paragraphing is used effectively to separate the different requirements of the task.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their message clearly. There are some attempts at using more specific vocabulary, such as 'assist' and 'environment', but the range is somewhat limited. Some word choices are imprecise, such as 'well maintained decoration' (should be 'well-maintained decorations') and 'not that much good' (which is informal and grammatically awkward). There are also minor collocation issues, such as 'lack of management among the employees'. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on using more precise adjectives and collocations suitable for a formal business context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'there are lot of space' (should be 'there is a lot of space'), 'an hotel' (should be 'a hotel'), 'employees who was working' (should be 'employees who were working'), and 'you needs to improve' (should be 'you need to improve'). While these errors do not impede overall communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. The punctuation is generally functional, but the inconsistent capitalization of words like 'We' in the middle of sentences should be addressed.
