Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear sir/Madam
I am writing this letter to give my feedback about recent event that recently oranized at your hotel.
The event was held on 14th march on saturday night in a hotel benqute with approximetly 6o people. The hotel provided hall including decoration and food and catering servive.
firstly,I was really impressed by staff they were well professional and their service was amazing. In addition, food was quite delisious and fresh.lastly, i want to mention that the place was beatifull and well organized.
However, The sound system was not satisfactory because it was old so i would suggest to relace that with new one. Furthermore, i am not amazed about the decoration , it was not as i expected .it could be better if you hire proffesional for decoration.
Thank you for taking my feedback. I hope this will help you to perform better in future.
yours faithfully,
XYZ.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt: it provides details about the event, mentions positive aspects of the hotel, and suggests areas for improvement. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the description of the event and the suggestions for improvement are quite brief. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points by providing more specific details or examples, such as explaining exactly why the sound system was inadequate or describing the specific nature of the decoration issues. The purpose of the letter is clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some basic cohesive devices such as 'firstly', 'in addition', 'lastly', and 'furthermore' to link your ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical phrasing and some awkward transitions. The paragraphing is sufficient, but the overall structure could be improved by ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are connected more fluidly. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some sentences feel slightly disjointed due to the limited range of cohesive devices employed.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific vocabulary such as 'catering service', 'well-organized', and 'satisfactory'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'oranized', 'benqute', 'approximetly', 'delisious', 'beatifull', and 'proffesional'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To improve, you should focus on proofreading your work to correct these common spelling mistakes and attempt to use a slightly wider range of vocabulary to describe your experiences.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with article usage (e.g., 'the decoration', 'the food'), capitalization (e.g., 'sir/Madam'), and punctuation. Some sentences are missing necessary words, such as 'the' before 'recent event'. The control of grammar is inconsistent, and while these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent punctuation will help improve the accuracy of your writing significantly.
