Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear sir,
I am Sneh Patel and we held an ferwell event at your hotel last week. I personally talked to my boss about the event and he totally love it i choose this hotel beacuse one of my friend suggested me.
After the event i want you to really appreciate the food and the service you provided. Additionally, in your staff all the members are polite and very helpful to others and to guest also. Moreover, the best thing about your hotel is we just need to tell you about the what function is, date and how many people you will arrage everything accrding to that. And it was very easy for an organiser.
I also took note for some key improvements you need to implement. First of all you need to improve the vantilation system. This was small event but if in future you organise big function there will be more people which can cause suffocation. Second thing is cleaning in washroom I notice that your staff was cleaning the bathroom but frequncy of that is to low. These few thing you need to implement right away.
Other than that we had wonderful time with you love your service overall best of luck with the event till than next time.
Best regards
Sneh Patel

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all three bullet points: providing event details, mentioning positive aspects, and suggesting improvements. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although some informal phrasing creeps in. The ideas are relevant, though the development is somewhat basic. For example, the suggestion regarding the ventilation system is clear, but the explanation of the washroom cleaning frequency could be more professional. To reach a higher band, ensure that the purpose of the letter is stated more clearly in the opening and that the suggestions are presented with a more formal, constructive tone.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'Moreover', and 'First of all' are used to link sentences and ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing and run-on sentences, such as 'I personally talked to my boss about the event and he totally love it i choose this hotel beacuse one of my friend suggested me.' Improving the use of punctuation and sentence boundaries would significantly enhance the overall coherence of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several spelling errors, such as 'ferwell' (farewell), 'beacuse' (because), 'arrage' (arrange), 'acccrding' (according), 'vantilation' (ventilation), and 'frequncy' (frequency). While the meaning is generally clear, these errors are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common business-related terms and attempt to use more precise vocabulary, such as 'facilitate' instead of 'arrange everything' or 'inadequate' instead of 'to low'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement ('he totally love it'), tense inconsistencies ('I notice that your staff was cleaning'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences that lack proper full stops. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently throughout the text. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would help improve the accuracy of your writing.
