Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir / Madam,
I am writing to give you feedback about the latest event that was held a day ago in your hotel by the LUCKY group of industry. No doubt we selected you as you are one of the top hotels in the town and has a 5 star rating since decades.
The event included a morning crowd session then there was Lunch from our end we had Price distribution followed up by a dance competition.
The ambience and the decoration was worth it and top notch everyone at the event was taken away by the unique decorative pieces we didn't even imagine about. Food was amazing and very tasty hatts off to all your masterchefs.
The one thing that our company did'nt liked was the security. As our company has multi millionaires in our event we were expecting more security checks. We understand you had a number of them but that's not enough as we noticed there was no ID card checking initially from your end in the entrance. Which our manager started doing in between the event that was difficult to digest for us. For next time if you want extra amount to be paid let us know beforehand that is not a big deal for us but the service should be on point.
Respectfully
Lucky Mukherjee

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You provided details about the event, highlighted the positive aspects of the hotel, and offered constructive criticism regarding security. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of feedback. To reach a higher band, ensure that the details provided are slightly more descriptive; for example, when mentioning the 'morning crowd session' or 'dance competition', adding a brief sentence about the atmosphere or the success of these segments would further develop your ideas and demonstrate a more comprehensive response to the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized, with each paragraph focusing on a specific aspect of the task. You use paragraphing effectively to separate the event description, the positive feedback, and the areas for improvement. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat limited. Phrases like 'The one thing that' and 'For next time' are functional but basic. To improve, try incorporating a wider range of linking words and transition phrases, such as 'Furthermore', 'In addition to this', or 'Consequently', to create a smoother flow between your sentences and ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'ambience', 'top-notch', and 'masterchefs' effectively. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'crowd session' (which is unclear) and 'difficult to digest' (which is an idiom used slightly out of context here). Additionally, there are minor errors in phrasing, such as 'since decades' instead of 'for decades'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure that idiomatic expressions are used in appropriate contexts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'the latest event that was held a day ago in your hotel by the LUCKY group of industry' (awkward phrasing), 'has a 5 star rating since decades' (incorrect tense), and 'our company did'nt liked' (incorrect verb form). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage to improve your accuracy.
