Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I was really pleased in organizing a program in your hotel. All our company employees were really overwhelmed with your service. However, their are some areas where I think it would have been much better.
Our event was on 29 July 2026 in evening from 7:00 to 10:30.Huge conference room was booked for this special occasion. The best part which was excellent was your services provided by the staff. This was so exceptional that many of our big clients were delighted and appreciated your staffs. In addition, the ambiance of the hotel was very welcoming.
On the other hand, their are some areas of improvement. Firstly, the parking area is fully capable for huge crowds. Moreover, the toilets were not fully functional. That been said, restrooms were missing napkins and some faucets had no water supply.
Overall, we had a great experience, but I hope you will try to uplift your toilets and parking area for making your hotels really outstanding.
Thank You

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: providing event details, mentioning positive aspects, and suggesting improvements. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, when mentioning the parking area, you state it is 'fully capable for huge crowds,' but it is unclear if you mean it was too small or poorly managed. Clarifying these points would help the reader understand your specific experience better. Overall, the purpose of the letter is clear, and the requirements are met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition,' 'On the other hand,' and 'Moreover' to connect your ideas. However, the transition between the positive aspects and the negative feedback could be smoother. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as 'That been said,' which is a grammatical error that also affects the flow of your argument. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used accurately would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'exceptional,' 'ambiance,' and 'outstanding.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For instance, you write 'pleased in organizing' instead of 'pleased to organize,' and 'uplift your toilets' is not a natural collocation in this context; 'refurbish' or 'improve' would be more appropriate. While your meaning is generally clear, the vocabulary is somewhat basic and lacks the precision required for a higher band score. Focusing on more natural collocations will help improve your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are several recurring grammatical errors. You frequently confuse 'their' with 'there' (e.g., 'their are some areas'). There are also issues with articles ('Huge conference room' should be 'A huge conference room') and verb tense/form consistency ('That been said' should be 'That being said'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall accuracy of your writing. Increasing your focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage would be beneficial.
