Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir,
Hope you are doing well. I am reaching out you to mention my pleasure and gratitude about your services, regarding the recent event of my company, held in your restaurant.
It was the conference of renowned tech corporations, hosting by our company. I really appreciate your support in making this event successful.
The food was very delicious and fresh. We enjoyed the variety of cuisines. The ambience was also relaxing representing the unique blend of contemporary and traditional element. The tasteful decor and soft lighting enhance the peaceful dinning experience. In addition, the services of the staff was excellent. There recommendations were spot-on. They assure that every guest is valued and well-care-for.
Although every aspect of hotel was excellent but I will suggest some improvements
Yours sincerely,
Maqbool.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points, but the development is insufficient. You mention the event and the hotel's positive aspects, but you fail to provide the requested 'areas for improvement' beyond a vague introductory sentence. Furthermore, the response is 130 words, which is below the 150-word minimum requirement. This significantly impacts the task achievement score, as the final bullet point is essentially ignored and the overall development is too brief to fully satisfy the task instructions.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear opening and closing. However, the paragraphing is weak; the body of the letter is clumped into a single paragraph, which makes it harder to follow. While you use some cohesive devices like 'In addition' and 'Although', the flow is somewhat mechanical. To improve, ensure that each distinct idea—such as the event details, the positive feedback, and the suggestions—is separated into its own paragraph to improve the overall structure and readability.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'ambience', 'contemporary', and 'renowned'. However, there are several collocation and word-choice errors, such as 'hosting by our company' (should be 'hosted by') and 'well-care-for' (should be 'well-cared-for'). Additionally, 'There recommendations' is a spelling error for 'Their'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, the errors prevent a higher score. Expanding your range and focusing on accurate word forms would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that detract from the quality of the writing. Examples include 'I am reaching out you' (missing 'to'), 'the services of the staff was' (subject-verb agreement error: 'services' is plural), and 'They assure that every guest is valued' (incorrect tense; should be 'ensured'). These errors are noticeable but do not completely impede communication. Increasing your control over basic subject-verb agreement and preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
