Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points: providing details about the event, mentioning positive aspects of the hotel, and suggesting areas for improvement. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the suggestion to replace staff is a bit blunt and could be phrased more professionally. While the task is fully addressed, the ideas are not extensively developed, which keeps this in the mid-range. To improve, ensure that the purpose of the letter is clearly stated in the opening and that suggestions are framed with more diplomatic language.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and sometimes mechanical. For example, the transition between the description of the event and the feedback is abrupt. There is some repetition of sentence structures, such as starting multiple sentences with 'My' or 'I'. To achieve a higher band, try to use a wider variety of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', 'In addition to this') to create a smoother flow between ideas and sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several spelling errors, such as 'hapy', 'weeding', and 'staffs' (which is an uncountable noun in this context). The phrasing is often simplistic, such as 'some of people who would like to book'. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology related to hospitality, such as 'amenities', 'professionalism', or 'decor', and ensure correct word forms are used. Expanding your range of collocations will help you move into a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'I hope this letter find you' (subject-verb agreement), 'My all employees' (incorrect determiner placement), and 'due to they were taking' (incorrect conjunction usage). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent a higher score. Focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and conjunctions to improve accuracy.
