Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir / Madam,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing this letter regarding the support your hotel management staff shows us on our company event which was held at your place last week.
To begin with, my company Skotidakis throw event an every year for the best achievements award which is named as an 'Annual Award Event' and they did same this year too. And we are glad that your best service helped us from starting to the end of function by which family member really enjoyed the evening. Moreover, the ambience of an auditorium was mesmerising with proper amount of focus lights, arrangement of sitting area according to family size and most importantly electrical equipements such as mike and speaker.
On the other hand, many people was disappointed with the food , as it was served cold especially the seasonal soup ' lemon coriander' was not as hot enough. I suggest to improve on those areas which helps people worth coming.
Finally, thank you for your best service overall. And I hope your management staff can make little focus towards kitchen too.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours sincerely,
Prajakta Koli

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: providing event details, mentioning positive aspects, and suggesting improvements. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the description of the event is a bit repetitive, and the suggestion for improvement is brief. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more specific details about the event (e.g., the number of attendees) and offer more constructive, detailed suggestions for the kitchen staff to demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You have used some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand' to link your points. However, some of the transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'they did same this year too'. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your ideas clearly, such as 'mesmerising', 'ambience', and 'consideration'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'throw event' instead of 'hosted an event' and 'electrical equipements' (which is an uncountable noun). Additionally, the phrasing 'make little focus towards' is not natural English. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that you use nouns in their correct singular or plural forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'many people was disappointed' (should be 'were') and 'support your hotel management staff shows us' (should be 'showed'). There are also minor punctuation and article errors, such as 'proper amount of focus lights'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and tense consistency.
