Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points: the event details, positive aspects of the hotel, and areas for improvement. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the description of the event is brief, and the suggestions for improvement could be more detailed to fully meet the requirements of a formal complaint or feedback letter. However, the purpose of the letter is clear, and the reader is left in no doubt about the writer's intent. To improve, try to expand on the impact of the issues mentioned, such as how the lack of hygiene affected the professional image of your company event.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure of the feedback. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'However', and 'Adding more to it'. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or are used incorrectly, such as 'Adding more to it', which is not standard formal English. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'this problem') is always precise and clear.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several spelling errors, such as 'unhygience' (unhygienic), 'tawal' (towel), 'comeplaints' (complaints), and 'relly' (really). These errors, while frequent, do not significantly impede communication. The range of vocabulary is limited to basic descriptors like 'good', 'clean', and 'delicious'. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use more sophisticated collocations and precise terminology, such as 'impeccable service' instead of 'really good communication' or 'sanitary conditions' instead of 'washrooms cleaning'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The letter contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('all chair and tables are clean'), article misuse ('a event'), and awkward phrasing ('I do not liked'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of full stops and capitalisation. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors requires the reader to work harder to interpret the intended message. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense consistency would significantly improve your score.
