Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I recently stayed at your hotel for an event celebration with my colleague. Actually, I had organized networking event on last week. I am writing to inform you some beneficial service. However, I am also mentioning improvement areas.
Firstly, My colleague and I really appreciated the service by crew member of the hotel. Moreover, we enjoyed a delicious mexican cuisine for lunch over there. Lastly, I really like the decoration and sound system in the hall, as it was perfect and audible from first raw to last raw.
On the other hand, I would like to mention some changes on drinks, we didn't like the soft drinks and juice over there. All the juices were with too much sugar and artificial flavor. Instead of artificial flavor start serving fresh natural juice. It would be healthy as well for all walks of life.
All the future events will be going to organize at your hotel.
Yours Faithfully,
Tanay

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points: providing details about the event, mentioning what you liked, and suggesting improvements. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the details about the event are vague; you mention it was a 'networking event' but do not specify the nature of the company or the scale of the event. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are more fully extended with specific details that provide a clearer picture for the reader.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel slightly abrupt. For example, the opening paragraph is a bit disjointed, with short, choppy sentences that could be combined for better flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'networking event', 'cuisine', and 'artificial flavor'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'inform you some beneficial service' (should be 'inform you about some beneficial services') and 'first raw to last raw' (should be 'first row to last row'). Additionally, the phrase 'all walks of life' is used slightly out of context here. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise, topic-specific collocations would help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'I had organized networking event on last week' (missing articles and incorrect preposition usage), 'All the future events will be going to organize' (incorrect passive voice construction), and 'I really like the decoration' (tense inconsistency with the previous sentence). While these errors do not impede communication, they are noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and consistent verb tenses.
