Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points: providing details about the event, mentioning positive aspects, and suggesting improvements. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. For example, the description of the event is vague, and the suggestions for improvement lack specific detail beyond the microphone issue. While the purpose of the letter is clear, the tone is occasionally inconsistent due to grammatical errors, which slightly impacts the professional nature of the correspondence. To improve, ensure that each point is expanded with more descriptive language and specific examples to fully satisfy the requirements of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure of the request. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'However'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as in the transition to the suggestions paragraph. Additionally, some sentences are disjointed, making the flow feel a bit repetitive. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would help elevate the coherence of the writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite basic and contains several inaccuracies. Phrases like 'unexpectable work' and 'take under considrable' are non-standard and hinder the precision of the message. There is also a reliance on simple, repetitive language. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise collocations and avoid literal translations. Expanding your range of vocabulary to include more professional and descriptive terms would allow you to express your satisfaction and concerns more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling (e.g., '31th Auguest', 'organazin', 'attented'). Subject-verb agreement and tense consistency are also problematic, such as 'the service we get' instead of 'the service we received'. While the meaning is generally clear, these errors occur throughout the text and occasionally distract the reader. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring consistent verb tenses will significantly improve the quality of your writing.
