– Suggest areas for improvement.

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Sir / Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to inform you regarding the event that was held by our company in your hotel last week. This event was about awarding employees who did excellent work with their dedication and compassion.

Talking about the most likeable things was the interior of your hotel, with beautiful decorations and eye-catching lighting effects. Our company was highly impressed by the way you welcomed and organized things in a well-mannered way. Additionally, the exterior look was looking amazing with banners at the front with the swimming pool as well as one of the walls with a cartoon character painting, which was beautiful.

Nevertheless, everything was perfect except food arrangements and servants. Food was not fresh and servants were not polite. Our workers during events asked for cleaning the tables; at that time, one of your workers gave a strange and rude attitude and interacted disrespectfully. It was not acceptable from your worker; this is the area you should require improvement in.

Thanks

Simran

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: providing details about the event, mentioning positive aspects of the hotel, and suggesting areas for improvement. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the event was for 'awarding employees,' providing more specific context or the date would have strengthened the response. Similarly, the suggestions for improvement are clear but could be more detailed to sound more professional. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Additionally' and 'Nevertheless' to transition between ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally slightly mechanical. For example, the transition between the positive aspects and the negative feedback could be smoother. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some phrasing, such as 'Talking about the most likeable things,' is a bit informal and slightly awkward. Improving the variety of linking words would help the text flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some descriptive language like 'eye-catching' and 'disrespectfully.' However, there are some instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'servants' (which is usually inappropriate in a modern hospitality context; 'staff' or 'waiters' would be better) and 'well-mannered way' (which is slightly redundant). The phrase 'exterior look was looking amazing' is repetitive and informal. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise professional terminology would elevate your writing to a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical inaccuracies. For example, 'the event that was held by our company' is passive but slightly wordy, and 'the exterior look was looking amazing' contains a redundant verb form. You also have some issues with article usage and prepositional phrases, such as 'at that time, one of your workers gave a strange and rude attitude.' Despite these errors, they do not impede communication, and your control of basic grammar is generally sound.
