Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear hotel manager,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to express my honest opinion about an event which i organized at your hotel. An event was about the birthday party of Arhan Shaikh who is a project coordinator of my company.
There are plenty of facilities which we liked. To begin with, your hotel has a separate entrance for an event which i liked the most because this will not only best for the people who join this event but also for the customers who are coming to have lunch at your hotel. Secondly, you have a specious party hall which allowed us to organized a separate side for cake ceremony , separate section for special family and guests. Lastly, lighting and utilities such as washrooms, elevators and the services from your staff member as truly deserve appereciation.
Even though you have these great amenities but there is one area you need to look after it which is none other than the air condition. we face a lot temperature fluctutation while enjoying the party. Other than this, your hotel is a perfect destination for any event. I am planning to organized my family event in the upcoming month.
I hope you will look on this feedback so i will not have any complain for my next event.
Regards,
Shaikh

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter covers all three bullet points: providing event details, mentioning positive aspects of the hotel, and suggesting improvements. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, while you mention the air conditioning issue, explaining the impact of this on the guests would have provided better depth. The purpose of the letter is clear throughout, and the response effectively communicates the intended message to the hotel manager. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is expanded with more specific detail or illustrative examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Secondly', and 'Lastly' to guide the reader through your points. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'look after it' which lacks a clear antecedent. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, but the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences within paragraphs are more tightly connected.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'amenities', 'fluctuation', and 'appreciation'. There are some instances of word-choice errors or awkward phrasing, such as 'specious' (likely meaning 'spacious') and 'organized' used incorrectly in the past tense ('allowed us to organized'). Spelling errors like 'appereciation' also occur. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focusing on correct word forms and collocations will help improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'An event was about' (should be 'The event was'), 'i organized' (should be 'I organized'), and 'we face a lot temperature fluctutation' (should be 'we faced a lot of temperature fluctuation'). Additionally, there are issues with verb tense consistency and article usage. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to limit the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will be beneficial.
