Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear manager,
I am writing this letter to inform you that their is an event of employee workshop is going to be held on 2nd of October in every year. In this occasion workers from different backgrounds will be approached such as sales associates, Receptionist, group presentative. Therefore we booked a large hall . Approximately 50 members will be coming in this event. So lunch breaks, dinner will also be included.
Particularly i liked the most fast customer service is provided and even the quality of the products is also very good. Even the decoration is very fascinating.
There are some few inconvenience at this occasion such as internet connection service is quite low. So there is delay in the performance of the audience. Other areas of improvement is the workshop sign is not visible outside due to this reason employees find difficulty to locate the exact location of this event.
Yours faithfully,
Jaspreet Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points: providing details about the event, mentioning positive aspects of the hotel, and suggesting areas for improvement. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the description of the event is a bit confusing, as you mention it is held 'on 2nd of October in every year' but then use the past tense to describe the booking. To improve, ensure your tenses are consistent and provide more specific details about the event's purpose to fully develop your response. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices like 'Therefore' and 'However' (though 'However' was not used, you used 'So' and 'Therefore' to link ideas). The progression of ideas is logical, moving from the event details to the feedback. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider range of linking words and ensure that the transition between sentences is smoother. Some sentences feel slightly disjointed, such as the transition between the event description and the positive feedback.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'fascinating', 'inconvenience', and 'approached'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'group presentative' is likely a mistake for 'representative', and 'fast customer service is provided' is slightly awkward phrasing. Additionally, 'some few inconvenience' is grammatically incorrect; it should be 'some minor inconveniences'. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise business-related terms would improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. For example, 'their is an event' should be 'there is an event', and 'in every year' is unnecessary. You also have issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'the workshop sign is not visible'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage will help you improve.
