Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir / Madam,
We are here to provide feedback regarding the successful completion of our company event at the Tulip Hotel. We, our company named Annapurna Travels had conducted an event at your hotel for 2 days from 12th Aug to 13th Aug 2026.
Our company chairman, James Smith had been retired from his post on 12th Aug 2026 and for the happy retirement, our company had organized a farewell party to our chairman sir. The members of the organization were welcomed in a grand way from your staffs. Additionally, they welcomed us with garlands, sweets and drinks. The facilities were great and commendable. We had a great time at your place and it should always be rememberable moment for us. The authentic taste of the foods were so applaudable.
Despite the best facilities we got, there was poor internet connection. Due to which the auditorium hall were getting disturbed in the middle of the moment. And also the lack of proper air conditioning in those sunny time led to the fast completion of the program. These two are the things that should be considered by the hotel. We also like to come again for future gatherings if those issues is solved by your management side.
In gist, our company is so profound to be there to celebrate our chairman farewell. The staffs were so helpful and they greet us so well.
Regards,
Annapurna Travels

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points: providing details about the event, mentioning positive aspects of the hotel, and suggesting areas for improvement. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although there are some minor issues with register, such as the phrase 'chairman sir'. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, covering the nature of the event (a farewell party) and specific feedback regarding the facilities. The purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning, and the content is well-developed enough to satisfy the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a distinct purpose. The progression of ideas is easy to follow, moving from the event details to positive feedback, then to areas for improvement, and finally a concluding remark. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Additionally', 'Despite', and 'In gist', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, although the connection between sentences in the third paragraph could be smoother. Overall, the structure supports the message effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their thoughts clearly. There are some instances of slightly unnatural word choices, such as 'profound' instead of 'pleased' or 'proud', and 'applaudable' instead of 'commendable' or 'excellent'. Phrases like 'fast completion' and 'middle of the moment' are understandable but lack precision. While the range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, it does not consistently demonstrate the flexibility or sophistication required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the authentic taste of the foods were', 'those issues is solved') and incorrect tense usage ('had been retired'). Additionally, there are minor errors in article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. A more careful proofreading of verb forms and pluralization would improve the accuracy significantly.
