Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to provide feedback of your hotel as Our company organised an event last week.
The event was one day workshop about a pelvic floor rehabilitation. It held from morning 9 to evening 5, and it was organised from the clinic where I work. The workshop was very informative and enjoyable attended by around 300 people including college students, clinicians and professors.
Although there were number of people, the sitting arrangement was well organised. Additionally, the LED screen was big enough, so everyone can see the screen easily even from the last row. Moreover, the food was very well prepared and various varieties were available, which made event more successful.
Our company was satisfied by your arrangements. However, there are certain areas where some kind of improvement needed. Firstly, a parking space is not spacious as compared to hotel, hence it would be grateful if you can increase your parking space. Furthermore, the sound system in event hall was not as clear as we expected, there was some interruption and glitches during the event. I would be happy if you could fix these small concerns.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours faithfully,
Hardik

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: providing details about the event, mentioning positive aspects of the hotel, and suggesting areas for improvement. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, though the development of the 'event details' could be slightly more specific regarding the nature of the clinic or the specific goals of the workshop. Overall, the response is well-structured and fulfills the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each requirement, and a formal closing. You use cohesive devices such as 'Additionally,' 'Moreover,' and 'Firstly' to transition between ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'the clinic where I work' which could be more smoothly integrated. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different sections of the letter, which helps the reader follow your argument easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'rehabilitation,' 'clinicians,' and 'interruption.' There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'various varieties were available' (which is redundant) and 'it would be grateful' (which should be 'I would be grateful'). While you attempt to use more specific vocabulary, some phrases are slightly unnatural. Expanding your range to include more precise collocations would help elevate your score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'feedback of your hotel' (should be 'feedback on'), 'It held from' (should be 'It was held from'), and 'there were number of people' (should be 'a number of people'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article usage errors throughout. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will improve your accuracy.
