You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Sir / Madam,

Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear Sir,

My name is Khushboo. I am an Event Manager of Goodlife Gym. I am writing this letter regarding the event we conducted at your hotel.

On August 20, 2026, our Health Awareness event was held at your Maya Hotel in the evening. The event was about fitness, meditation, yoga and health awareness.

The program was successful; your team and management helped a lot in setting up the things as we wanted. I really liked the lighting and decoration, as it was not tacky; it went absolutely with the theme and did not look too odd.

I believe there are few areas that need improvement. Firstly, the seating arrangement: maybe you can add more tables and chairs at the end to accommodate more people. Secondly, the washrooms need to be fixed at the earliest; there was a lot of leakage in the taps.

Our experience was good with the hotel and the staff. We will conduct more events in your hotel in future.

Thank you

Yours sincerely,

Khushboo

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The letter successfully covers all three bullet points required in the prompt. You have provided adequate details about the event, mentioning the date, the specific hotel, and the theme of the Health Awareness program. Furthermore, you effectively highlighted what you liked about the hotel, noting the appropriate lighting and decoration which matched the theme. Finally, constructive areas for improvement are clearly stated, specifically regarding the seating arrangements and the leaking washroom taps. The tone of the letter is polite and professional, appropriately fulfilling the requirements of a formal complaint and feedback letter to a hotel manager. The response meets all task requirements efficiently.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organised with a clear beginning, middle, and end, following a standard formal letter structure. Each paragraph has a distinct focus: introduction of the writer, details of the event, positive aspects, areas for improvement, and a concluding remark. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' are used appropriately to structure the suggestions for improvement. Paragraphing is clear and aids readability. However, some transitions between sentences are slightly basic and could flow more smoothly with a greater variety of referencing words, placing this clearly at a band 7 level for clear organisation and progression.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary for the task with some attempts at less common items, such as 'Health Awareness event', 'accommodate', and 'at the earliest'. Word choice is generally appropriate and communicates the intended meaning clearly, though some phrases like 'setting up the things as we wanted' lean towards informal spoken English rather than formal correspondence. There are no spelling or word-choice errors that impede communication. To reach a higher band, a slightly more sophisticated and formal vocabulary suited to business correspondence could be employed throughout the letter.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as the use of conditional or participial clauses like 'as it was not tacky; it went absolutely with the theme'. There is generally good control of basic grammar and punctuation. However, there are a few minor punctuation issues and awkward phrasings, such as the semicolon usage and the run-on feeling in 'The program was successful; your team and management helped a lot in setting up the things as we wanted.' Despite these minor inaccuracies, the majority of sentences are clear and error-free, and communication is never impeded.
