Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all three bullet points required in the task instructions. You successfully provided details about the company event, such as the dance and singing competitions and the specific preparations you handled. You also mentioned what you particularly liked about the hotel, highlighting the kind staff and the large room size, and you suggested an area for improvement regarding the parking space. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed and lack extension. The tone of the letter is appropriate for a general correspondence to a hotel manager, though the greeting and sign-off contain minor mechanical formatting issues. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, placing this performance at Band 6.0 according to the criteria.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is arranged into logical paragraphs that generally correspond to the required bullet points, showing a coherent overall arrangement. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by mechanical cohesive devices and referencing issues. For example, expressions like 'Due to this, I made' and 'even it is a too small that's why' demonstrate faulty or repetitive cohesive links. Paragraphing is attempted, but transitions between sentences can feel abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'it had consists over 100 people.' These issues place the response firmly in the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range, warranting a score of 6.0 for managing overall organisation despite flawed cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message about the event, the staff, and the parking area. You attempt some less common items such as 'decorations things' (which is awkward collocation) and 'sufficient space'. There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'organise' versus 'organise', 'meal, refreshment and many more', 'they gives me', and 'thier'. While these errors do not impede communication, they reflect a limited and occasionally inaccurate lexical range. These features align with the Band 5.5 descriptors, making a score of 5.5 appropriate for lexical resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, such as conditional or relative clauses like 'which is very famous in our area' and 'As your hotel is very big but unfortunately...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('company organise', 'they gives me', 'room was also very big and it had consists'), articles ('held in a Surya Hotel', 'in a dance'), and prepositional use. Punctuation errors are also present, such as missing spaces after commas and periods. These errors persist throughout the response, though they rarely impede overall communication, supporting a Band 5.5 score.
