Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response successfully covers all bullet points required by the prompt. You provided details about the event, noting that it was an annual dinner for your company and mentioning specific arrangements like the air-conditioned and tidy halls. You clearly expressed what you liked about the hotel, such as the ambience, complimentary refreshing drinks, hot and fresh food, and the kind staff. Finally, you offered a suggestion for improvement regarding the hall size, stating that they were congested and small for large events. The tone is appropriately formal for a business-related letter to a manager. Ideas are relevant and fully developed, satisfying the requirements for this band level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter maintains a logical flow and overall clear organisation. You begin with an appropriate opening greeting and a statement of purpose, move through the positive aspects, and finish with recommendations and a polite sign-off. However, paragraphing is somewhat fragmented, with single-sentence lines breaking up the body of the letter unnecessarily. Cohesive devices are used adequately, such as 'In addition' and 'Furthermore', though referencing and transitions could be smoother. Overall, the arrangement of ideas allows the reader to follow your message without difficulty, achieving a solid standard for cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your thoughts clearly, utilising words like 'ambience', 'complimentary', and 'cooperating'. However, there are some repetitive expressions, such as the repeated use of 'chairs were very comfortable' shortly after 'Sitting was very comfortable', and minor collocation or word-choice inaccuracies like 'an company event' instead of 'a company event'. Less common lexical items are attempted with some success, and spelling throughout the text is generally accurate. The vocabulary is adequate for the task, though a wider variety of descriptive adjectives would elevate the register.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms. You demonstrate control over basic sentence structures and punctuation, and your meaning is always clear to the reader. There are, however, several grammatical errors present, such as articles ('an company event', 'a annual dinner') and preposition or pronoun slips ('I look forward your response' instead of 'forward to'). Additionally, sentence fragments like 'Thanks, I look forward your response' detract from grammatical precision. Despite these errors, they rarely impede communication, placing the writing firmly in the middle band for grammatical accuracy.
