Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir / Madam,
I am one of the employees at the Bayshore Health care company who recently organised an event at your hotel. I am particularly writing about the services that your staff provided during our event. My team members and all management was quite impressed because of your all attentive staff and their attitude.
The event was about opening a new location of our comapny in rural areas. The rural communities lack of some facilities which urban residents get regularly. To help those people and provide them best facility, our management team decided to have a meeting with the head of the rural area.
The most pleasant thing was done by the staff members was service. They arranged everything before our arrival which was fascinating and even during the meeting, all members who were assigned at our location have showed their willingness to help with posotive attitude.
My team and I was discussing at the end about the location of the building is quite far from the main highway. In addition, there is lack of signs or directions on the road about the hotel which makes our guests disappointing finding location
I would highly recommend you to put some directions on the road which could help guests to find your location very easily.
I am looking forward to seeing you soon in my next meeting there.
Yours faithfully,
Bindi Soni

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all three bullet points required in the prompt. First, the student provides details about the event, explaining that it was organised by Bayshore Health care company for opening a new location in rural areas and holding a meeting with community heads. Second, the student mentions what was particularly liked about the hotel, highlighting the staff members' attentive service and positive willingness to help. Third, areas for improvement are clearly suggested, pointing out that the hotel location is far from the main highway and lacks road signs or directions. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. Ideas are relevant and fully developed, satisfying all requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a clear logical organisation with an appropriate greeting, body paragraphs addressing each prompt requirement, and a proper sign-off. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate different ideas, such as event details, positive aspects, and areas for improvement. Cohesive devices are used, though some referencing and transitions are a bit mechanical or basic (for instance, using phrases like 'The most pleasant thing was done by the staff members was service'). However, the overall arrangement is coherent, and progression throughout the letter is easy to follow, making the communication smooth.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common expressions such as 'attentive staff', 'rural communities', and 'willingness to help'. There are some vocabulary and spelling errors, such as 'comapny' instead of 'company' and awkward phrasing like 'makes our guests disappointing finding location' instead of 'makes it disappointing for guests to find the location'. Nevertheless, the lexical resource is sufficient to convey the intended meaning without causing major misunderstandings, allowing the reader to grasp all the details easily.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout the letter. However, there are noticeable grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('all management was quite impressed because of your all attentive staff' and 'My team and I was discussing'). Additionally, there are structural slips like 'The rural communities lack of some facilities' (unnecessary preposition) and missing words. While these errors occur frequently, they rarely impede overall communication, placing the response solidly in the band 6 category for grammatical control.
