Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir, Manager
I hope you are doing well, I am writing this letter to inform you regarding bookings of your hotel from July 14th to 16th by Melsiko Ltd. We want to thank you for the services provided by you to each of our members. the event was a great success as we are celebrating the 50 years journey of our company.
What I liked most about your hotel is your Ambience, rooms, service and the balcony view was mesmerizing.food was also delicious specially your Dal baati taste authentic and fresh as I ate in India,Moreover your staff service was also really great.
Although overall i like your service, there are some area where i think you can do better, like parking space. when we reach there in bus we find it difficult to found space for parking because people park their cars anywhere they found space. Hope you guys work on this otherwise i really impress and satisfied with your services.
Thank you
Niket

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all three bullet points required in the task instructions. The student provides details about the event, specifically mentioning the company name Melsiko Ltd, the dates from July 14th to 16th, and the 50th-anniversary celebration. Furthermore, the writer highlights specific aspects of the hotel that they liked, such as the ambience, rooms, balcony view, and the Dal baati dish. Areas for improvement are also addressed, pointing out the parking space issues when arriving by bus. Although the tone of the opening salutation is slightly awkward ("Dear Sir, Manager"), the letter successfully communicates the intended message and purpose, fulfilling the task requirements adequately for a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into three distinct paragraphs, each addressing a different aspect of the prompt. Ideas flow with a logical progression from the introductory details of the booking and event, moving to the positive aspects, and concluding with constructive criticism regarding parking. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'Although', and 'otherwise', though referencing is occasionally faulty or repetitive (e.g., overuse of 'your'). Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to separate the introduction, positive feedback, and suggestions for improvement, resulting in an overall coherent structure that warrants a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common lexical items, such as 'mesmerizing', 'authentic', and 'satisfied'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation issues, such as 'celebrating the 50 years journey' instead of 'celebrating the 50th anniversary', and 'find it difficult to found space' (grammatical and lexical slip). Spelling and word formation are generally clear, though punctuation and capitalisation errors affect precision. The lexical range is sufficient to convey meaning clearly, but frequent minor inaccuracies prevent the score from reaching a higher band, placing it solidly at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and subordinate clauses (e.g., 'Although overall i like your service, there are some area where i think you can do better'). However, there are numerous grammatical errors throughout the text, including comma splices ('I hope you are doing well, I am writing'), missing articles ('food was also delicious', 'in bus'), agreement issues ('there are some area'), and tense/verb form errors ('when we reach there... we find it difficult to found'). Punctuation and capitalisation are also frequently neglected (e.g., lowercase 'i', 'the event', 'food'). These frequent errors restrict the score to a Band 5.0.
