Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response covers all three bullet points required by the prompt successfully. You provide details about the event, stating clearly that it was a job fair run by your organization for new graduate students. You mention aspects you particularly liked about the hotel, such as the easy location, welcoming entrance, and helpful staff. Additionally, you suggest areas for improvement, specifically requesting bottled water and crowd management staff. The tone is consistently appropriate for a business correspondence letter to a hotel manager. Your ideas are relevant and fully addressed, earning a solid band score for this criterion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter follows a clear logical organization with an appropriate opening and closing. Paragraphing is used adequately to separate the introduction, details of the event, positive aspects, areas for improvement, and the closing remarks. Cohesive devices are generally handled well, using phrases like 'In addition' and 'However' to guide the reader. However, some referencing is slightly awkward, such as 'there is thing or two that get my attention', which minorly disrupts the flow. Overall, the arrangement is coherent and easy to follow throughout.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully conveying your message with appropriate terms such as 'hospitality', 'organization', 'banquet hall', and 'crowded'. There are some noticeable lexical and spelling errors, such as 'bottele' instead of bottle, 'improvment' instead of improvement, and 'looking forword' instead of looking forward. Furthermore, phrases like 'thing or two that get my attention' are slightly unnatural. Despite these errors, the range is sufficient to make your meaning clear, allowing you to achieve a solid band score in lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
Your writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses ('that how easy it is to find the location') and conditional clauses ('if its get crowded train your staff'). There are several grammatical errors and punctuation slips, including missing apostrophes ('its'), agreement errors ('bottled water bottele'), and run-on sentences with comma splices. However, these errors do not impede communication, and the meaning of your letter remains entirely clear to the reader. Your control of grammar is consistent with a band 6.
