Student answer (Band 5.0)
Dear Sir,
i hope you would be fine i reached you realted to the event my company oraganized at your hotel
i ant to provide some details about the event.the overall exeperinece was good. Most of that the ambiance of the place was so elegant. particulary the thing i liked most was the hotel management team.they were so coperative and understanding.they helped me for making the event succesful.i want to share some suggestion which i think have to be improved are the dinner side.the food should be served more fast and accurately to each table.otherwise the overall experience at the hotel was splendid.one more thing is the bar table it should be cleaned time by time while during drinking the splits should cleaned side by side to avoid any unconvinence to the guests.
thank you so much for the great hospitality during our stay at the hotel

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response covers all three bullet points required in the task instructions. The student provides details about the event organized at the hotel ('the event my company oraganized'), mentions what they particularly liked ('the ambiance of the place was so elegant' and the management team), and suggests areas for improvement (service speed for dinner and cleaning the bar area). However, the response has a noticeable negative impact on Task Achievement due to the length check: the text contains 146 words, falling just short of the 150-word minimum requirement. Furthermore, while the ideas are present, they remain somewhat underdeveloped and lack the extension expected for higher bands. Because the length requirement was not met, a penalty is applied, placing this criterion at a Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text suffers significantly from a lack of proper paragraphing, as the entire body of the letter is written as a single, unformatted block of text following the salutation. Cohesive devices are minimal and mechanical, relying heavily on simple transitions like 'otherwise' and 'one more thing'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the lack of capitalization at the beginning of sentences (e.g., 'i hope', 'i ant') and after full stops disrupts the flow and logical progression of the writing. While there is a basic overall arrangement moving from details to positive aspects and then to suggestions, the mechanical cohesion and complete absence of paragraph breaks restrict the score to Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses a limited range of vocabulary adequate for basic communication, such as 'ambiance', 'elegant', 'management team', and 'hospitality'. However, there are frequent word-choice and spelling errors that detract from the writing, including 'realted' instead of related, 'oraganized' instead of organized, 'ant' instead of want, 'exeperinece', 'coperative', 'succesful', 'fast' instead of quickly, 'splits' instead of spills, and 'unconvinence' instead of inconvenience. While the meaning is generally retrievable despite these flaws, the numerous lexical inaccuracies and spelling mistakes prevent the response from reaching a higher band. This performance aligns best with Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Grammatically, the response demonstrates a very limited range of structures, consisting mainly of simple sentences and a few basic attempts at complex sentences which are often flawed. There are severe punctuation and capitalization errors throughout the text: personal pronouns like 'i' are consistently written in lowercase, and sentences frequently run together or lack proper capitalization after periods (e.g., 'event.the overall', 'team.they were'). Minor slips also include prepositions and phrasing such as 'reached you realted to' and 'helped me for making'. The high frequency of basic grammatical and mechanical errors causes occasional difficulty for the reader, fitting the descriptors for Band 4.5.
