Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing today to express my appreciation regarding the event, our company hosted in your hotel.
Last week, our organisation hosted a skill enhancement event for the selected employes in your hotel. The event took place exactly on 23rd september, 2026 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. We also booked your catering service for drinks and dinner.
All the applicants along with our company's director are statisfied with the ementies your hotel provided us during the session such as mics, projector, coffee, and dinner. If I talk about particular thing, everyone love the ambiance and lighting of your conference room.
Despite all these, I think there are some areas your need to foucs on. First of all, you assigned us a limited staff member for service. Secondly, your Wi-fi connection is bit slow, as it took lot of time in processing presentations. Expect this, everything is upto the mark.
Thank you for providing such a wonderfull service and I hope you will take my suggestions into consideration.
Yours sincerely,
Rajveer Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response successfully covers all three bullet points required in the task instructions. You provided clear details about the event, mentioning it was a skill enhancement event for selected employees that took place on 23rd September, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., along with the catering service used. You also clearly stated what you particularly liked, highlighting the ambiance and lighting of the conference room, and suggested areas for improvement, specifically pointing out the limited staff and slow Wi-Fi connection. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. All parts of the prompt are fully addressed with relevant and well-developed ideas, aligning well with the Band 7 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter is logically organised with a clear beginning, middle paragraphs addressing specific prompts, and a polite concluding paragraph. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as event details, positive aspects, and areas for improvement. Cohesive devices are used reasonably well to guide the reader through the text, such as 'Last week', 'We also', 'All the applicants along with', and 'First of all'. However, there are minor referencing and cohesion hiccups, such as the awkward transitional phrase 'If I talk about particular thing' and 'Expect this', which slightly disrupt the flow. Overall, the logical progression is clear throughout, supporting a solid Band 6.5 or 7.0 performance.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'appreciation', 'enhancement', 'amenities', and 'consideration'. However, there are a few noticeable spelling and word choice errors, including 'employes' instead of employees, 'ementies' instead of amenities, 'statisfied' instead of satisfied, 'ement' instead of event, and the prepositional error 'Expect this' instead of 'Except for this' or 'Apart from this'. Despite these errors, communication is never impeded, and the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your precise meaning. These characteristics place your lexical performance firmly at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
Your writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating good control over standard structures. You successfully used relative clauses and compound sentences, such as 'We also booked your catering service for drinks and dinner' and 'the amenities your hotel provided us during the session such as mics, projector, coffee, and dinner.' Nevertheless, there are several grammatical and mechanical errors present, including 'the event, our company hosted' (unnecessary comma), 'exacty on 23rd september' (capitalisation issue), 'areas your need to foucs on' (incorrect pronoun and spelling), and 'it took lot of time' (missing article). These errors do not impede communication, matching the criteria for Band 6.
