Dear Sir,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing you regarding a company event that I organised at your hotel. I booked the banquet hall in your hotel for a farewell party. The event was for the retiring staff. As, my company wanted to thank their employess for their contributions.

I was browsing websites, in the search of a suitable place. I came to know about your hotel. I was extremely impressed when I looked at the pictures of the hotel. I booked the Royal banquet for this event. While, I was making the reservation, I came to know that you offer the catering services as well. So, I endup up booking the catering services from your hotel.

On the event day, I was so happy to see the arrangments. The deciration was up to mark. Sitting area was fantastic. However, I was little disappionted with the food. Actually, the food was not as tempting as I was hoping. Eventhough, the event went well and all the guests were happy. I would like to see improvements in this area. I wishing to make some more arrangments for the upcoming events with your hotel. I hope this feedback helps you to provide a meaningful insight.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response successfully covers all three bullet points required in the task instructions. You provided clear details about the event, such as booking the Royal banquet hall for a farewell party for retiring staff. You also mentioned what you particularly liked about the hotel, noting the fantastic sitting area and the up-to-mark decoration. Furthermore, you suggested areas for improvement by pointing out your disappointment with the food quality. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a hotel manager, and the purpose of the communication is clearly conveyed throughout the text. All requirements of the prompt are fully met with relevant and developed ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter is generally clear, with a logical organization and progression throughout the text. Paragraphs are used to separate different points, starting with the event details, moving on to the booking process and positive aspects, and concluding with feedback and improvements. However, some cohesive devices and transitions feel slightly disjointed or abrupt, such as starting sentences with 'While,' or 'Eventhough,' accompanied by punctuation errors. Referencing is mostly clear, but the overall flow would benefit from smoother transitional phrases between the paragraphs. Paragraphing is adequate, but sentence-level cohesion requires minor refinement.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for this general task, using terms like 'farewell party,' 'reservation,' and 'meaningful insight.' However, there are several noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the response, such as 'employess' instead of employees, 'endup up' instead of ended up, 'deciration' instead of decoration, and 'disappionted' instead of disappointed. While these errors do not impede communication, they restrict the lexical score. Using more precise collocations and ensuring accurate spelling would elevate your vocabulary performance to a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'I was browsing websites, in the search of a suitable place.' There are several grammatical errors and punctuation mistakes, including unnecessary commas ('As, my company wanted'), incorrect verb forms ('I wishing to make'), and missing apostrophes. Additionally, sentences like 'Eventhough, the event went well' demonstrate minor fragment or punctuation issues. The majority of simple sentences are accurate, but attempts at more complex structures introduce frequent minor errors that prevent the grammar score from reaching a higher level.
