Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response successfully covers all the required bullet points from the prompt. You provided details about the event, noting that it was an art exhibition celebrating Independence Day involving students and local artists. You also mentioned what you particularly liked about the hotel, highlighting its premium location away from city pollution and its natural greenery. Finally, you suggested areas for improvement regarding the deficiency of staff and materials. All three parts of the task are adequately addressed and supported with relevant ideas, aligning well with the requirements for a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical structure, moving from an introduction of the event to positive aspects of the hotel, and concluding with constructive criticism. Paragraphing is attempted, although spacing and paragraph breaks are somewhat irregular. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes mechanical or basic. Referencing is mostly clear, though occasional mechanical errors and poor spacing between paragraphs slightly detract from the flow. Overall, the organisation is sufficient for a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'premium location' and 'independence day'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'deatils' instead of details, 'organixed', 'competiotions', 'independance', 'educated' instead of educate, 'bidged' instead of budget, and 'bid' instead of big. These errors do not impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response includes a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety. However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors that affect readability, such as missing articles ('at a hotel' instead of the hotel), incorrect prepositions ('writing you' instead of writing to you), and punctuation issues including spaces before commas and periods. For instance, 'im writing you to provide deatils' contains casing and structural inaccuracies. While communication is not severely hindered, the density of grammatical slips places this at a Band 5.5.
