Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear sir/ madam,
i am writing to express my recent experience related to my company's new year party last month. Whereas we booked for 150 people as we expected.
Additionally, few things i liked about your resort that the service was beyond words and the staff was not only cooperative but also helpful, they arranged everything which was required for the event. the food was mouth watering and the presentation was remarkable. So all the attendees praised about that.
however, i think there were few things which came into our notice that the decoration was not upto the mark and audio system was not maintained properly during the event which was gaining people's attention more frequetly. these were the only two things which can improoved in the next coming event.
Yours faithfully,
Vikas

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You successfully covered all parts of the prompt by providing details about the event, mentioning what you particularly liked, and suggesting areas for improvement. However, some ideas are under-developed, particularly the details regarding the event and the specific suggestions for improvement. Furthermore, it is important to note that the response does not meet the minimum length requirement of 150 words, coming in under the target. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points more fully with extended explanations and ensure the letter is sufficiently long.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
Your letter shows a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the information into appropriate paragraphs, such as opening with the purpose, moving on to positive aspects, and concluding with areas for improvement. You make use of cohesive devices like 'Additionally' and 'however'. However, some of the referencing and transitions are slightly mechanical or faulty, such as the awkward opening sentence ('Whereas we booked for 150 people as we expected') which disrupts the logical flow. To move up, you need to ensure smoother progression and more natural links between all sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrated an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases like 'mouth watering', 'presentation was remarkable', and 'beyond words'. However, there are some word-choice and collocation errors, such as writing 'praised about that' instead of 'praised it' or 'praised the food', and spelling issues such as 'upto' and 'improoved'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they keep your lexical score at this level. Using more precise terminology and checking your spelling will help you achieve a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You utilized a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting relative clauses and subordinate structures like 'which was gaining people's attention more frequetly'. There are noticeable errors in grammar and punctuation, including frequent capitalization issues ('i', 'the'), awkward phrasing ('there were few things which came into our notice'), and minor structural slips. While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to reflect a limited control of accurate complex structures. To improve, focus on sentence-level accuracy, proper capitalization, and tightening your control over verb and modifier agreement.
