Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, establishing a clear purpose right from the start. You provide adequate details about the event, such as the inauguration of a new plant on March 3, 2026, and mention what you particularly liked, specifically praising the presentation and taste of the food as well as the friendly greeting style of the staff. Furthermore, you effectively suggest areas for improvement by addressing the parking facility congestion and the staff shortage. While the ideas are clear and relevant throughout, some points, such as the description of the event, tend to be slightly over-generalized and could benefit from further extension to reach a fully developed professional standard. Overall, the communication of the message is direct, fulfilling the functional requirements of a business-oriented letter.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter presents a generally coherent overall arrangement with a clear, logical progression from the opening purpose through to the positive aspects, areas for improvement, and the closing remark. You make use of basic cohesive devices and markers such as 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' to structure the suggestions effectively. Paragraphing is employed to separate distinct themes, moving appropriately from background and praises into recommendations. However, referencing and cohesion occasionally feel somewhat mechanical or abrupt, as seen in transitions like 'It was about inaguration of new plant So this was the biggest event' and the sudden introduction of paragraphs. To achieve a higher standard, the flow between sentences could be smoothed out with more varied and sophisticated cohesive links rather than relying heavily on repetitive structural patterns.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary choice is adequate for the task, successfully conveying the intended meaning despite noticeable limitations. You attempt less common items and descriptive phrases, such as 'satisfaction about services', 'inauguration of new plant', and 'assets for your hotel', demonstrating an ambition to use varied phrasing. However, there are frequent spelling, word-choice, and word-formation errors that detract from precision, such as 'inaguration', 'cuisins', 'icreadibly effective', 'presenation', and 'inconvenice'. Furthermore, some collocations are awkward, such as 'vehicles n the road'. These lexical slips and inaccuracies do not completely impede communication, but they restrict the precision and fluency expected at higher levels, highlighting a need for more careful checking of word forms and spelling conventions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to use relative clauses and subordinate structures like 'staff members who are the assets for your hotel' and 'due to shortage, we had to wait for long time.' However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text that cause difficulty and distraction for the reader. Issues include missing articles ('an important', 'for long time'), incorrect prepositions ('on 3 march', 'n the road'), and awkward phrasing or fragment structures like 'presentation of all cuisins is an icreadibly effective.' Additionally, punctuation is occasionally mishandled around clauses and transitional elements. Because these errors occur frequently and affect basic agreement and clause structures, the grammatical control remains constrained.
