Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir / Madam,
I am writing to thank you for the excellent service provided by hotel during the corporate event that was organized by me on behalf of Lux company, last week.
In this event,18 different companies from different cities participated and over 80 guests attended the party. I was extremely impressed by your hotel service. All staff members were well organized, active and polite. The conference was held in large hall. The room was well equipped with proper electornic gadgets, screens with wonderful audio and video quality. We had not felt any difficulty during communication.
Moreover, I particularly like your hotel's dining arrangement for large groups and food was delicious too. The only problem I see was with wifi, when it was joined by whole team then it starts working slow. I think you have to increase its capacity to connnect with more people. Another thing was less parking spaces. In future, if you can provide an alternative parking information in advance to guest, it will be very convienent. Overall, I liked everything about your hotel.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
your's faithfully,
Arshdeep Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
Your letter successfully addresses all parts of the task prompt. You provided relevant details about the corporate event, such as the 18 participating companies and over 80 guests, and clearly mentioned your appreciation for the staff and dining arrangements. You also fulfilled the requirement to suggest areas for improvement by discussing the Wi-Fi capacity and parking space limitations. Your ideas are relevant and generally well-extended, showing a clear professional purpose throughout the letter. To reach the highest bands, some of these ideas could be slightly more fully extended with greater elaboration, but you have thoroughly covered every bullet point outlined in the instructions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
Your letter demonstrates a clear overall logical organisation and progression. You begin with a standard, appropriate salutation, move smoothly through the event details and positive aspects, and then transition naturally into the areas for improvement before concluding politely. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Another thing', and 'Overall' to guide the reader through your thoughts, though a few more advanced linking words would make the transitions even smoother. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate your points, making your letter easy to follow from beginning to end.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You have used an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, successfully communicating your message with terms like 'corporate event', 'participants', and 'well-equipped'. You also attempted some less common vocabulary items, such as 'electronic gadgets' and 'alternative parking information'. However, there are some minor lexical inaccuracies and spelling errors, such as 'electornic', 'convienent', and 'connnect', along with occasional awkward word choices like 'We had not felt any difficulty during communication'. These vocabulary errors do not impede communication, but eliminating them and showing greater precision in word choice and spelling will help you achieve a higher lexical band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
Your writing shows a workable mix of simple and complex sentence forms, allowing you to explain the event details and your hotel experience adequately. You demonstrate control over past and present tenses, as seen in sentences like 'All staff members were well organized, active and polite.' However, there are some grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as omitting articles ('provided by hotel' instead of 'provided by the hotel'), awkward prepositional use ('working slow' instead of 'working slowly'), and minor punctuation or sign-off issues like 'your's faithfully'. These errors are present, but they rarely impede communication, allowing your meaning to remain clear throughout the letter.
