Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Hotel Manager,
I am writing this letter to share my feedback to you about the event of annual aniversary held in your hotel recently. Fortunately, I got the chance to putt my efforts into the event behafe of my company.
I was really impressed by your hotel staff, as they were well dressed and taking well care of the guests. I cannot resist my self to give a 5 star review about the rooms. the rooms was very well maintaned, Sepcially the washroom i really liked it.
However, at some point i felf that the parking space was so conguested even there was no guard who can asist people with parking. some of the employees of our company had to park on street, evntually, they got traffic ticket which ruined their mood.
I would suggest if your Managant expand thye parking space that would be great for people.
Best regards
Ravi

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your response addresses all parts of the task, meeting the basic requirements by providing details about the corporate event, mentioning what you liked about the hotel such as the staff and rooms, and suggesting areas for improvement regarding the parking space. However, some aspects are more fully developed than others. While the mention of the staff and rooms is clear, the details regarding the event itself remain quite general and could have been expanded with more specific information about the occasion. The tone is appropriately semi-formal for a business-related complaint and recommendation letter, and your position and purpose are clear from the beginning to the end.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
Your letter has a coherent overall arrangement, and you have made a clear attempt to use paragraphing to separate your introduction, positive feedback, criticism, and final suggestion. The progression of ideas makes sense as you guide the reader from the event details to your compliments and then to your grievances. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes a bit mechanical or faulty. For instance, transitional phrases between paragraphs could be smoother, and minor issues with sentence connectivity prevent the letter from achieving a fully fluid structure. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to structure your thoughts, but clearer referencing within the body paragraphs would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary range is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your main points successfully. You make attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'impressed', 'congested', and 'expand', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occasionally distract the reader. For example, 'aniversary' is misspelled, and phrases like 'taking well care' or 'Managant' demonstrate limitations in word form and collocation. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they restrict your lexical score because control over more sophisticated terminology is inconsistent and imprecise throughout the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You demonstrate a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on basic patterns alongside some attempts at complex sentences. Your writing contains frequent errors in grammar, articles, plurals, and punctuation that can occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Instances such as 'annual aniversary held in your hotel recently', 'putt my efforts', 'the rooms was very well maintaned', and 'guard who can asist' show ongoing issues with verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and spelling under the guise of mechanics. Complex structures tend to be faulty, and punctuation errors, such as comma splices and missing capital letters, persist throughout the response, keeping the control of grammar at a developing level.
