Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir/ Madam
Hope you are doingh well,
I am writing this letter to give you feedbcak about the event that I recently helped for organise at your hotel. The event was a company celebration with 50 people include dinner, speeches some activiies like singing, dancing and other activies too. It was held on 3 october on saturday.
I liked the environment and the hospitality of the employess and other people the food was impressive and whenever we need anything they responded with in seconds which is fantastic service for me.the variety of dishes were really good as their were some other people from other company was parised us which shows that we did really well everyone were happy and enjoy the event.
However, event was really good but their are some improvent which is important for another events if we are working like some employess should be punctual for their work as we spend alot money for these event they should do their duties on time. secondly, the service was slow guests were waited for while for food which we have to improve in future so that we do not have to worry.
Despite these minor issues we enoyed alot in event.
Yours faithfully,
Simran

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully covers all the bullet points outlined in the prompt, addressing the purpose of the letter, the details of the event, what was liked about the hotel, and suggestions for improvement. For instance, you provided specific details about the event, mentioning it was a company celebration with fifty people featuring a dinner, speeches, and activities held on October 3rd. You also highlighted the environment, hospitality, and food, while pointing out areas for improvement such as employee punctuality and slow service. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed or repetitive, such as the general mentions of activities and future worries, which prevents the response from achieving a higher level of thoroughness and full extension of ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear beginning and ending, organizing the content into distinct paragraphs for introduction, positive feedback, constructive criticism, and sign-off. You use basic cohesive devices to connect your thoughts, such as "However", "secondly", and "Despite these minor issues". Nevertheless, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty, and referencing can be unclear, such as in the sentence beginning with "However, event was really good but their are some improvent which is important for another events if we are working like..." where the logical flow and transition between ideas become tangled, indicating that paragraph organization and cohesive links need more seamless management.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
An adequate range of vocabulary is used for the task, attempting words like "hospitality", "impressive", and "punctual". However, there are noticeable spelling errors ("feedbcak", "employess", "improvent", "parised", "enoyed"), incorrect word forms ("organise" instead of "organising" after "helped for"), and awkward collocations that cause some distraction for the reader. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they reflect limitations in control. To improve, you need to expand your working vocabulary and pay closer attention to spelling accuracy and word derivations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some understanding of sentence structure through clauses introduced by conjunctions like "whenever" and "although". However, your writing contains frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ("the variety of dishes were", "everyone were happy"), missing articles ("guests were waited for while for food"), punctuation errors, and run-on sentences with comma splices (e.g., combining independent clauses without proper conjunctions or full stops). These errors require the reader to occasionally pause and interpret your meaning, placing your grammatical control firmly within this range.
