Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir/Madam,
My name is Daman Singh, I am director of operations from Empire Entertainment Inc. We recently held an event last week at your hotel on August 22, 2026. It was coperate event having 150 people from 4pm to 7pm. We had a wonderful experience with the services provided by you.
We are mostly happy with the arrangements as from start to end everyone was co-operative and communication flows smoothly, the technicians was very helpful they know exactly when to use bright lights while someone giving presenations. Moreover, the ambience was perfect, and their was no disturbance of any other sound.
However, everything was running smooth, despite that there are some key areas to improve and I would like to give suggestions. Firstly, staff was good but they need some training to deal with number of people. Secondly, the decor was not looked liked for coperate events, It was felt like for some other celebration and hotel staff forget to change it. Moreover
Hopefully, you will take care of the above mentioned things next time and we will have more wonderful experience ahead!
Your Sincerely,
Daman Singh
Director of Operations

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three requested points: it identifies the event as a company gathering for 150 people, praises the technicians and ambience, and suggests staff training and more suitable décor. The purpose and generally positive tone are clear. The event details are useful, although the date and time are presented somewhat awkwardly, and the improvement points would benefit from clearer explanation—for example, what difficulties staff had managing the guests and what décor would suit a corporate event. The final improvement paragraph also ends abruptly after “Moreover,” leaving a thought unfinished. The response covers the task, but some points are less fully developed than others.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The overall sequence is appropriate for a formal letter: event details come first, followed by positive comments and then suggestions. Paragraphing helps distinguish these functions, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “However,” and “Firstly” make the progression visible. However, some connections are awkward or unclear. “However, everything was running smooth, despite that” repeats the contrast, while the final “Moreover” is left without a completed point. The long sentence about the arrangements combines several ideas, making the praise less easy to follow. Clearer sentence boundaries and a completed, logically ordered suggestions paragraph would make cohesion more flexible and less dependent on signposting.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses enough vocabulary to communicate the event and the writer’s evaluation, including “technicians,” “ambience,” “arrangements,” and “decor.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as describing the lighting during presentations. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable: “coperate” appears twice, “presenations” is misspelled, and “co-operative” is less natural here than “cooperative.” Some phrases are imprecise or awkward, including “communication flows smoothly,” “the decor was not looked liked,” and “deal with number of people.” These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding the main message, but more accurate collocations and careful proofreading would improve precision and control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
There is an attempt to use both simple and more complex sentences, including a sentence with “as” and another beginning “despite that.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. The opening joins two independent clauses with a comma (“My name is Daman Singh, I am director…”); “the technicians was” has incorrect subject–verb agreement; and “their was no disturbance” uses the wrong form. Other examples include “staff was good” and “the decor was not looked liked,” where sentence structure and verb forms need correction. The unfinished “Moreover” also leaves the final paragraph incomplete. More reliable agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries would strengthen accuracy while retaining varied structures.
