Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir/Madam, good morning. I hope you are doing great. I am writing to share my experience with your hotel. Last month, on Labour Day, our company organised a party for our team; we introduced an event where use did lots of activities like dancing, playing cards and singing.
The best thing i liked about your hotel was the lighting and decoration; the hall was very glowing with golden lights, which made our experience more luxurious, and the food was amazing. The server did a great job we did not wait long for food, and the food was very delicious. We got a variety of cuisines. But the drinking part was less liked by the owner of our company because he did not get his preferred drinks and the bartender was very unprofessional; he was taking a lot of time to make drinks.I personally recommend to improve that area and our overall experience was good.
regards
harry

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three requested points: it describes a Labour Day company party and activities, praises the hall’s lighting, decoration and food, and identifies problems with drink availability and bartender service. These details make the response relevant and give the manager useful feedback. However, the event description is brief, and the improvement request is not fully developed: “I personally recommend to improve that area” does not specify what practical change is wanted, such as ensuring preferred drinks are available or improving service speed. The overall positive assessment is also quite general. To strengthen the response, develop the event context and make the suggested improvements more precise, while maintaining a suitably formal tone for a letter to a hotel manager.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The information follows a generally sensible order: the purpose and event are introduced first, followed by positive features and then a complaint. This makes the main message understandable. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the event details, praise and suggestions are not clearly separated. Some connections are also abrupt, particularly the shift from praising the food to “But the drinking part was less liked.” The opening and closing are not clearly set apart, and “regards” would work better as a formal sign-off on its own line. Use separate paragraphs for the event, positive feedback and improvements, and connect contrasting points more smoothly to make the letter easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for communicating the main points, and some descriptive choices, such as “golden lights,” “variety of cuisines” and “unprofessional,” help convey the experience. However, several expressions are imprecise or unnatural for this context, including “the drinking part,” “very glowing” and “the best thing i liked.” “Good morning” and “doing great” also sound conversational rather than appropriately formal in this letter. Aim for more precise hospitality-related language and natural collocations, such as describing the drinks service or the range of beverages. More accurate word choice and a consistent formal register would make the feedback clearer and more professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response includes a mix of simple and more extended sentence forms, and the main events and opinions are generally understandable. Some grammatical and punctuation errors remain. For example, “we introduced an event where use did lots of activities” has an unclear clause structure, while “The server did a great job we did not wait long for food” joins two independent clauses without suitable punctuation or a linking word. The sentence beginning “But the drinking part” also runs into the recommendation without clear sentence boundaries. Capitalisation is inconsistent in “i” and “regards.” Review clause construction, sentence boundaries and capital letters, and use a wider range of accurately controlled complex sentences.
