Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Madam,
On behalf of M/S Sunrises (Pvt) Limited, I wish to take this opportunity so as to express my deep appreciation for the services provided by your hotel on the Dinner event that we recently organised aon October 08, 2026 at "Great Hall".
At the outset, I would like to start by appreciating the decor, linen and the seating arrangements. All these were in accordance to the scheme that I personally communicated prior to the event. Such attention to detail, I think, deserve admiration.
Equally good was the food service. Both in terms of quality and quantity. What even deserve more appreciation was the fact that the food was served fresh and hot and quickly.
It goes without saying that the behavior and conduct of the entire staff from the very first moment till the conclusion of the event was extremely courteous and execeptional which indeed shows the high standards that your hotel is known for. They equally deserve our appreciation.
Before I conclude, I would like to draw your attention to the background music which appeared to be bit loud. I think this aspect needs to be reviewed.
I, once again, thank you for all the exceptional services.
Hasan Ali.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter addresses the main purposes: it identifies the company event and venue, praises the décor, seating, food and staff, and raises the loud background music as an area to review. These details make the response relevant and give the manager a clear sense of your experience. The positive comments are more fully developed than the improvement point, which is limited to saying the music “appeared to be bit loud” and should be reviewed. To strengthen the letter, explain how the volume affected guests or conversation and suggest a practical adjustment. The formal tone is generally appropriate, though the opening could be more direct and the closing could use a conventional sign-off.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The information is arranged in a sensible progression: event context, positive features, a concern, and thanks. Paragraph breaks help distinguish the main points, and phrases such as “Equally good” and “Before I conclude” guide the reader through the letter. However, some linking feels formulaic or repetitive, particularly the repeated expressions of appreciation and “At the outset, I would like to start.” The food section also contains a fragment—“Both in terms of quality and quantity”—which interrupts the flow. Use fewer ceremonial transitions and connect related details in complete sentences. A clearer paragraph focused on the requested improvement would also make the letter’s progression more balanced.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a suitably formal range for a business letter, including “deep appreciation,” “attention to detail,” “courteous,” and “high standards.” These choices communicate respect and help establish the intended tone. There are also some inaccurate or unnatural expressions that keep the vocabulary from being consistently precise: “Dinner event” would be more naturally phrased as “dinner event,” “in accordance to” should be “in accordance with,” and “execeptional” is misspelled. “What even deserve more appreciation” is also awkwardly formed. Aim for natural collocations rather than adding formal-sounding phrases, and proofread spelling and word forms. This will make your vocabulary more fluent and precise without changing the letter’s meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response attempts a mix of sentence forms, including longer sentences with subordinate clauses, as in the description of the staff’s conduct. Meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors and punctuation choices remain. “Such attention to detail, I think, deserve admiration” has a subject–verb agreement error; “appeared to be bit loud” needs an article; and “Both in terms of quality and quantity” is a sentence fragment. The sentence beginning “It goes without saying” is also long and would be easier to control if divided. Review agreement, articles, and complete sentence structure, and use punctuation to separate ideas cleanly. More consistently accurate complex sentences would improve control.
