Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir / Madam,

I, Gagan Deep Singh associated with Accenture Strategy as a Strategy Manager. I am writing to you regarding the recent event organised by your hotel Taj for Accenture Strategy on 3rd October 2026.

Taj hotel's event team has done an incredible job in planning and organising the event. Specially, managing the time schedule and assisting foreign delegates in the best manner. Additionally, the decoration of the hall was appropriately done as per the event. However, I want to highlight few areas for improvement; Starting with the welcome ceremony, it should be done as per Indian culture so that international stakeholders can experience it. Secondly, the food served in the event should contain less spices as guests from different nation have less spice tolerant. Rest all the arrangements done by your hotel were appropriate.

Again, I want to thank you and your team for organinsing and managing the event professionaly and smoothly.

Yours faithfully,

Gagan Deep Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three requested points: it identifies the event as one organised for Accenture Strategy on 3 October, praises the event team, scheduling, assistance to delegates and hall decoration, and suggests changes to the welcome ceremony and food. The purpose and appreciative tone remain clear throughout. The suggestions are relevant, but their rationale is only briefly stated: for example, the welcome should reflect Indian culture so international stakeholders can experience it, while the food should be less spicy for guests from other countries. A little more detail about the event itself or how these changes would improve future events would make the ideas more fully extended and supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The information follows a clear, sensible progression: the opening explains why you are writing, the main paragraph covers praise and improvement points, and the closing thanks the hotel team. Sequencing words such as “Additionally,” “However,” and “Secondly” help readers follow the shift from positive comments to suggestions. Paragraphing also separates the main stages of the letter effectively. Some connections feel slightly mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “Additionally” and “Secondly,” and “Rest all the arrangements” is not a fully clear link back to the praise. Use a more natural transition, such as “Apart from these points,” and ensure each reference clearly identifies what it refers to.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.5

You use an adequate range for a formal letter, including relevant expressions such as “international stakeholders,” “event team,” “decoration of the hall,” and “areas for improvement.” These choices communicate the subject clearly, and phrases such as “planning and organising” suit the context. There are also attempts at more specific vocabulary, though some combinations are not fully natural: “managing the time schedule” could be expressed more idiomatically, and “less spice tolerant” is an awkward phrase. Spelling slips in “organinsing” and “professionaly” also reduce accuracy. To show more flexible control, choose natural collocations and check spelling carefully while retaining the formal register.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The letter includes a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, and the main message is consistently understandable. For instance, the opening sentence gives the event details, while the food suggestion uses a reason clause beginning “as.” Some grammatical errors remain, including the sentence fragment “I, Gagan Deep Singh associated with Accenture Strategy as a Strategy Manager,” which needs a main verb, and “Specially, managing the time schedule,” which is also incomplete. There are issues with articles and agreement in “highlight few areas” and “guests from different nation have.” Improve control by writing complete sentences, checking singular and plural forms, and using punctuation to separate clauses rather than joining them with a semicolon after “improvement.”
