Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir / Madam,
I hope you are doing well. I am pleased to share some experience and feedback about your hotel service. Our company C&C Corporation organised an event on our new product launch recently this month at your place. We are more than thankful to your excellent service to making this event successfull.
Our team and I am personally very satisfied with the wonderful service provided by your staff. They were very cooperative through out the event, from welcoming us to taking care of our seating arrangements to afternoon meal. The hospitality, time management, organisation skills all of them was amazingly provided. Moreover, the execution of the event at the hotel auditorium was well equipped with seats, audio-visual system, airconditioner. Overall, it was wonderful to smoothly run this event and made it a successful one.
However, I would like to mention about some areas we find a little difficulty, was connectivity issue of the WiFi we had at the beginning of the session. I believe it could be possibly be better than we expected, although it did not impede the overall event. In addition the lightings of the auditorium are too bright which was affecting the eyesight.
Overall, it was one of the allevieted and successful experience we had organising an event to your hotel. We look forward to organise any upcoming event at your place again.
Warm Regards,
Wafiya

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three requirements: it identifies the company’s product launch, describes positive features of the hotel, and raises two areas for improvement. The event details are relevant, and the praise is supported with examples such as staff welcoming guests and arranging seating, as well as the auditorium’s equipment. The Wi-Fi and lighting concerns are also clearly stated and balanced by noting that the connection problem did not impede the event. To strengthen the response further, develop the improvement suggestions with a specific request, such as checking the connection before sessions or adjusting the lighting. The closing also expresses interest in returning, giving the letter a clear overall purpose.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The information follows a clear sequence: an opening and event context, a paragraph of praise, a paragraph on problems, and a concluding statement. This makes the letter easy to follow, and transitions such as “Moreover,” “However,” and “Overall” help signal shifts in focus. The response also maintains a consistent focus on the hotel experience. Some linking is less smooth within sentences, particularly the long list of staff duties and the sentence beginning “However, I would like to mention about some areas…” A clearer topic sentence for the improvement paragraph and more precise links between the examples would make progression feel more natural and less dependent on explicit transition words.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The response uses an adequate range of vocabulary for a formal feedback letter, including “hospitality,” “time management,” “execution,” and “connectivity issue.” These choices communicate the main points, and the writer attempts some less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “share some experience,” “service to making this event,” and “one of the allevieted and successful experience.” Spelling and word-form slips, including “successfull,” “through out,” and “lightings,” also reduce precision. Aim for familiar, accurate collocations rather than more elaborate phrasing; this would make the positive feedback and criticism sound more natural and professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
There is an attempt to use both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the overall meaning remains understandable. However, some errors in agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction limit accuracy. For example, “Our team and I am” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “the hospitality, time management, organisation skills all of them was” does not form a grammatically complete structure. In “areas we find a little difficulty, was connectivity issue,” the clause and verb pattern are also faulty. Review agreement, articles, and how clauses connect; for instance, separate the list of positive features into a complete sentence. More consistently accurate sentence patterns would improve control.
