Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir/ Madam
I am writing regarding the event organised by my company last weekend in your hotel.
Last weekend an event took place in your hotel under The WESCO company's name on 3rd od the October, 2026. It was an Annual Performance Review of all the Managers at District Level.
The event started around 5 PM when was winded by 11 PM.
I was the incharge for that event and i must say everything went so well that all my team members and leader were amazed. Especially, the arranagments were mind blowing. Apart from that, almost all the guests loved the variety of dishes offered from different culture. And I must say that the special drink that was offered after the dinner was flavourful.
However, people found it little difficult to park their cars as the parking area was not that spacious. Because of that many of the guests had to park their cars on the road which they find was unsafe. So, i would recommend you to get more space for parking.
I look forward to your reply.
Your faithfully,
Riya Saini

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three requirements: it identifies the company event as an annual performance review for district-level managers, describes what you appreciated about the arrangements and food, and recommends improving parking. The purpose is clear from the opening, and the parking concern is supported with the practical consequence that guests had to leave cars on the road. These relevant details and explanations make the response effective. To strengthen it further, develop the event description and improvement suggestion with a little more precision—for example, clarify the event schedule and explain what specific parking provision would help. The positive comments are clear, though “everything went so well” is broad; a more specific example would make the praise more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The information is arranged in a sensible sequence: the event is introduced, its details and positive features follow, and the final main paragraph raises the parking issue. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these purposes, and transitions such as “Apart from that” and “However” signal addition and contrast. This gives the letter a coherent overall structure. Some linking is a little mechanical, however, with repeated “I must say” and several sentences beginning with “Last weekend” or “Because of that.” The event timing sentence is also difficult to follow, interrupting the progression. Use more varied, precise links and make the relationship between the event’s start and finish clearer. The closing is appropriate, but the sign-off should match the formal salutation.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for the purpose, including relevant expressions such as “Annual Performance Review,” “variety of dishes,” “parking area,” and “unsafe.” These help convey the event and the feedback clearly, and “flavourful” adds a suitable descriptive detail. There are also several inaccurate or awkward choices that limit precision: “mind blowing” is overly informal for a formal letter, “incharge” is not the standard form, and “offered from different culture” is an unnatural collocation. Spelling errors such as “arranagments” and “od” are noticeable, although the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Aim for more formal, natural collocations and proofread spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes both simple statements and attempts at more complex structures, such as the explanation beginning “Because of that” and the sentence describing guests’ parking difficulties. Meaning is usually understandable, but grammatical control is uneven. For example, “The event started around 5 PM when was winded by 11 PM” has an incomplete and incorrect clause; “all my team members and leader were amazed” has an agreement/article problem; and “which they find was unsafe” shifts tense awkwardly. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in lowercase “i” and the salutation without a comma. Practise accurate past-tense clauses and sentence construction, and check articles, agreement, and punctuation. More reliable control of these forms would make the message smoother.
