Dear Sir / Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Manuel,
I am writing to provide feedback for the big event happened last Sunday in your hotel from Hope Ltd. I would like to mention that guest and our owners operators are over the moon after this event.
It was an important and markable event for the company. As we celebrated our 50th anniversary and invited high profile personalities and big investors from the market.
Moreover, we were thrilled about the floral decoration near the stage. Adding to that, seating arrangement was well organized facing to stage and easy for guest to communicate with each other. I would also like to remark about the friendly and helping staff which makes this event more comfortable and energetic.
However, there are some areas where i would like to draw your kind attention. Some of our guest were complaining about cold snacks during dinner. Since they arrived late and not able to enjoy the snacks.
Overall, it was a mesmerizing experience to work with your hotel.
Thank you for your kind support and cooperation.
Yours faithfully
Sam

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter covers all three requested points: it explains that Hope Ltd. celebrated its 50th anniversary, praises the floral decoration, seating and staff, and raises a concern about cold snacks. The purpose is clear and the tone is generally appreciative and appropriate. The event details and positive comments are more fully developed than the improvement suggestion, which is brief and somewhat unclear: “Since they arrived late and not able to enjoy the snacks” does not explain whether the snacks were cold because guests arrived late or because service was delayed. To strengthen the response, clarify the problem and suggest a practical improvement, such as keeping food warm or replenishing it for late-arriving guests. The greeting also differs from the requested opening.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The information follows a sensible overall order: the purpose and event are introduced, positive features are described, and the concern appears before the closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and transitions such as “Moreover,” “Adding to that,” and “However” make the relationships between ideas visible. Some linking is mechanical, however, and the progression within the complaint is not fully clear: “Some of our guest were complaining about cold snacks during dinner. Since they arrived late…” leaves the connection between the guests’ late arrival and the cold food uncertain. Combine these ideas into a clearer explanation and use a more natural range of transitions. The closing is appropriate, though the letter would feel more polished with a consistent formal greeting and sign-off.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The response uses an adequate range for a formal feedback letter, including relevant expressions such as “50th anniversary,” “high profile personalities,” “floral decoration,” and “friendly and helping staff.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and phrases such as “over the moon” and “mesmerizing experience” show an attempt to use more expressive language. Some collocations and word forms are inaccurate or unnatural, including “markable event,” “owners operators,” and “draw your kind attention”; these reduce precision even though the message remains understandable. Aim for conventional, precise combinations—for example, “memorable occasion,” “company owners and operators,” and “bring to your attention.” Also check spelling and capitalization, including “I” and “high-profile.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
There is some variety in sentence structure, including a reason clause beginning “Since” and a relative clause in “staff which makes this event…”. The main message is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. “The event happened last Sunday” needs a more accurate clause structure, while “As we celebrated our 50th anniversary…” is a sentence fragment. Other examples include “guest” where a plural is needed, “seating arrangement was” without an article, and “staff which makes” with unclear agreement and reference. The complaint sentence, “Since they arrived late and not able to enjoy the snacks,” is also incomplete. Build complete sentences with consistent tense and check articles, plurals, and subject–verb agreement; this will improve accuracy while preserving the range you are attempting.
