Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You give some relevant details: the event was a charity fundraiser organised for your company, and you explain that it supported children with serious diseases. You also identify positive features, including the staff, the hotel’s colour scheme and furniture, and its 20% contribution. However, the response does not complete the task: it gives no clear suggestion for improvement, and the event details and praise are only briefly developed. The opening also does not follow the requested “Dear Sir / Madam,” and the letter ends without a closing. The response is 24 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to address all three points. Add a specific improvement request and develop each point with relevant detail.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The ideas are broadly relevant and there is a basic sequence: you introduce the event, describe positive aspects of the hotel, and explain the charity’s purpose. “Firstly” also signals a move into your comments about the hotel. However, the response is presented as one paragraph, so the event details, praise and any improvement request are not clearly separated; in fact, the final task point is missing. Some links between ideas are awkward, particularly the sentence beginning “The event was based on collecting the fund,” which does not connect smoothly to the following description of the children. Use separate paragraphs for the event, what you appreciated, and suggestions, with clear transitions and a conventional letter ending.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt some task-relevant vocabulary, including “charity event,” “excellent services,” “reputation,” and “serious disease,” so the reader can identify the general subject. However, the range is limited, and frequent spelling errors and inaccurate word choices make parts difficult to understand: “gor,” “thingd,” “regading,” “preprtion,” and “appricate” obscure otherwise straightforward ideas. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “collecting the fund from big organisation” and “did 20 percent of total charity.” Choose more precise expressions such as “raise funds from large organisations” and “contributed 20% of the proceeds.” Careful proofreading and a wider range of accurate event-related vocabulary would make the letter clearer and more professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use mostly simple sentence patterns and make an attempt at a longer sentence to explain the fundraiser’s purpose. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, articles, agreement and sentence construction. For example, “Last week, i organise” needs a past-tense verb and a capitalised pronoun; “the children who are battling” is left as an incomplete connection to the preceding clause; and “The thing impressd me most that” lacks a grammatical structure such as “What impressed me most was that.” There are also punctuation and spacing problems, including spaces before commas and full stops. Practise complete sentences and past-tense reporting, then proofread for articles, agreement and punctuation.
