Dear Sir / Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I am writing to express my thoughts about recently organised event of our company at your hotel. As our company deals with pharmaceutical products, we organised a get-together to introduce our new brand to doctors.
The event was quite successful, especially food quality and staff service. All our guests genuinely enjoyed the meals and highly satisfied with taste and timely service of food. Even some of them were recomended me to book the same hotel for upcoming events as well.
Eventhough the event went quite well, I would like to suggest some improvements which further helps uplift the experience. Mainly the sound quality was too poor. when we were presenting the main slide of the presentation, the voice broke several times. Owing to this issue we had to repeat some slides again and again, which lead to unpleasent environment. Moreover, projector was also faulty and sometimes became blurry and unreadable.
I hope you look into my suggestions and do the necessory changes in our upcoming events.
yours faithfully

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you explain that the company held an event to introduce a new pharmaceutical brand to doctors, praise the food and staff service, and identify problems with the sound system and projector. The purpose of the letter is clear, and the specific examples of the presentation being interrupted and the image becoming blurry make the improvement requests relevant. The positive comments are less fully developed than the complaints, however: you could add a concrete detail about what staff did particularly well or how the hotel’s facilities supported the event. The request to make changes for future events is also rather general. More balanced development and a clearer, specific request would make the letter more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall structure, moving from the event’s purpose to positive feedback, then to areas for improvement and a closing request. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and connectors such as “Even though,” “Moreover,” and “Owing to this issue” show the relationships between ideas. Some linking is mechanical or slightly unclear: “Even some of them” does not connect smoothly to the preceding sentence, and “which lead to” leaves the consequence less precisely expressed. The final paragraph also closes abruptly. Use more natural transitions and make references explicit—for example, specify what “this issue” refers to—while retaining the effective paragraph structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the purpose and includes relevant terms such as “pharmaceutical products,” “brand,” “presentation,” “sound quality,” and “projector.” These allow you to describe the event and its technical problems clearly. You also attempt more formal expressions, including “express my thoughts” and “look into my suggestions,” though some combinations are not fully natural or precise. Spelling errors such as “recomended,” “unpleasent,” and “necessory” are noticeable, and phrases such as “unpleasent environment” are vague for describing a disrupted presentation. Aim for accurate spelling and more idiomatic collocations, such as “raise concerns” and “disrupted the presentation,” to improve precision and control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the subordinate clause “Even though the event went quite well” and the relative clause describing the repeated slides. Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “All our guests … highly satisfied” needs a verb (“were”), and “which further helps uplift” does not agree naturally with the past context or the plural “improvements.” In “when we were presenting,” the sentence should begin with a capital letter after the full stop; “which lead” also needs a past-tense form. Review verb agreement and tense consistency, and check sentence openings and punctuation to make your varied structures more reliable.
