Dear Sir / Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Mr.John,

I hope you are well. I am writing this letter regarding our company's event which was organized at Clare Hotel. We had an exceptional experience and the event was successful.

The event was very important for our company. This is because we had many international investors invited along with our company's CEO. However, everybody who attend the event was pleased and satisfied with the services.

I would also like to mention about the meeting hall. It had all required equipments and amenities. Moreover, I really appreciate the professional services provided by your staff. They were very polite, helpful and detail oriented.

There few things I wanted to suggest you. The meals were authentic and healthy. Nonetheless, we had a few options available for vegan diet. It would be great if the hotel can inlcude more vegan dishes in the menue. Moreover, the wifi connectivity was weak at some particular areas of the hotels. I hope you can install some wifi boosters or extenders to enhace the experience.

Looking forward to your response. Thank you.

Best regards,

Kanksha.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three requested points: it explains that the company held an event at Clare Hotel with international investors and the CEO, praises the meeting hall and staff, and suggests more vegan dishes and stronger Wi-Fi. The purpose and generally positive attitude are clear throughout, and the suggestions are relevant and practical. The event details are somewhat general, however: the writer does not say what kind of event it was or provide a specific detail about its programme or scale. The improvement points are clearer, though the reasons for them could be developed slightly further. To strengthen the response, add one or two concrete details about the event and explain how the proposed changes would benefit future guests or events.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The information is organised in a clear sequence: the opening establishes the purpose, the next paragraphs describe the event and positive features, and the final body paragraph introduces improvements. Linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Nonetheless” help show relationships between ideas, while the closing is appropriate for a formal letter. The progression is easy to follow, although some transitions feel a little formulaic, and “There few things I wanted to suggest you” does not introduce the suggestions smoothly. The shift from praising the meals as “authentic and healthy” to noting the limited vegan choices could also be connected more clearly. Use a more natural transition, such as “I would also like to suggest a couple of improvements,” and make the contrast between the food’s strengths and its limitation explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the purpose and includes some useful descriptive phrases, such as “international investors,” “professional services,” “detail oriented,” and “wifi connectivity.” These choices communicate the main points, but some wording is imprecise or unnatural, including “mention about the meeting hall,” “options available for vegan diet,” and “install some wifi boosters.” There are also spelling errors in “inlcude,” “menue,” and “enhace,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, refer to “the range of vegan options” and “Wi-Fi signal boosters.” A broader selection of precise expressions for describing the event and the hotel’s facilities would make the letter more fluent and polished.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The letter uses a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the reason clause “This is because…” and the conditional suggestion “It would be great if…”. Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors are present. For example, “everybody who attend” needs a past-tense verb (“attended”), and “There few things” is missing “are.” The phrase “I would also like to mention about” has an unnecessary preposition, while “if the hotel can include” would fit the polite suggestion better as “if the hotel could include.” There are also issues with articles and number, as in “all required equipments.” Review verb agreement and tense, article use, and sentence patterns for polite requests to improve control while retaining the range of structures already attempted.
