Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir/ Madam,
I'm writing to express my honest feedback on the service that we recived on our company anual gethering held on 21st of augest 2026. we appriciate the exeptional support that you provided to make our event an absalute success.
To elaborate more, our event was organized as the anual gethering for all of our comapny employees. This event mainly focused on the employee realtionship building and colloboration. While our main gole was to provide opportunity to our staff to interact with each other, we also wanted to thank them for thier hard work troughout the year. We like to mentioned the outstanding service that you have provided during the event and the planning stage. Your management was really friendly and their attention to details is extrordinary. also, we like to mention you waiter satff was also very profesional and helpful.
However, we noticed that your parcking facility can help from some improvements. I can bearly handle 100 vehicles and for a coporate event that capacity is not enough. Other thatn that your service was excelent and we look forward to contact you for our next events.
Thank you,
Sencerly,
Lanka De Alwis.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three points clearly: you explain that this was an annual company gathering on 21 August, describe its aims, praise the hotel’s management and waiting staff, and identify parking capacity as an area to improve. The positive tone and closing reference to future events also make the purpose of the letter clear. The event details are relevant, though the explanation of its aims takes up more space than the specific feedback about the hotel, and the parking suggestion could be more actionable—for example, proposing overflow parking or a shuttle. To strengthen the response further, balance the details more evenly and make the requested improvement precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall progression: it opens with the reason for writing, gives event context and positive feedback, then introduces a concern and closes politely. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and transitions such as “However” signal the shift to the suggestion. This coherent arrangement is a strength. Some links are less smooth, however: “To elaborate more” is an awkward transition, and the long middle paragraph combines event aims, praise for management, and comments on staff. The lowercase “also” after a full stop interrupts the flow. Use more natural transitions and separate the event description from the hotel praise to make the progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for a formal feedback letter, including “exceptional support,” “employee relationship building,” “collaboration,” and “attention to details.” These choices communicate the event’s purpose and your appreciation. However, spelling errors are frequent and sometimes make the reader pause, as in “recived,” “anual,” “gethering,” “appriciate,” and “profesional.” There are also inaccurate or unnatural expressions, such as “parking facility can help from some improvements” and “look forward to contact you.” Aim for accurate spelling and natural collocations, and proofread carefully. More precise wording for the parking issue would also make your suggestion sound more professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including a complex sentence beginning “While our main goal was…” and a contrast introduced by “However.” The main message remains understandable, but grammatical control is inconsistent. Examples include “we like to mentioned,” where the verb form is incorrect, “I can barely handle 100 vehicles,” where the subject does not clearly refer to the facility, and “we look forward to contact you,” which needs a gerund after “look forward to.” There are also issues with articles and sentence boundaries, such as “provide opportunity” and the lowercase “also” after a full stop. Practise reliable verb patterns and check each sentence for a clear subject and complete structure.
