Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this letter regarding the recent event conducted in your hotel.
On January 20th, ABCD info park conducted a reunion party in your common hall.
One thing I really like to mention is about the food. A lot of my friends suggested about trying your food. Unfortunately, due to my busy schedules I couldn't come to the try before the event. I trusted your team and booked. Your team didn't disappointed me. I really appreciate it. All of the employees from my company really enjoyed every dish.
In addition, I like to talk about an area for improvement. I came to know that some of the outsiders attended this party and we had a shortage for food. I like to suggest in keeping a staff member at the entrance of the hall so that they can verify and redirect the people who are not registered fro the event.
I really appreciate your time.
Regards,
Roniya Reena

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three required points: it identifies the event as a reunion party held on January 20th, praises the food and staff, and recommends checking guests at the hall entrance. The suggestion is relevant and includes a reason—unregistered outsiders contributed to a food shortage—so the purpose is clear. The positive comments are also supported by the detail that employees enjoyed every dish. However, the event description is brief, and the improvement point could be developed more fully by explaining how registration would be checked or how this would prevent shortages. The response already covers the task clearly; more specific supporting detail and a slightly more complete account of the event would make it more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The information follows a sensible order: the event is introduced, the hotel’s food is praised, and an improvement is suggested before the closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish these points, and transitions such as “In addition” make the shift to the suggestion easy to follow. The overall progression is clear, though some linking and reference choices are less natural, such as “One thing I really like to mention is about the food” and “I like to talk about an area for improvement.” The final appreciation is polite but does not add much to the closing. To strengthen cohesion, use more direct topic sentences and connect the shortage explicitly to the proposed entrance check, while keeping references to the event and guests precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the event, praise, and recommendation, with useful task-related terms such as “reunion party,” “common hall,” “shortage,” and “registered.” However, several word choices and collocations are noticeably unnatural or imprecise: “event conducted in your hotel,” “suggested about trying your food,” and “booked” do not express the intended meanings smoothly. “Common hall” may also be unclear in this context. These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding the main message, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim for conventional letter phrasing and accurate collocations, for example, “held at your hotel,” “recommended your food,” and “reserved the venue.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The letter uses a mix of short statements and longer sentences, including a reason clause in “so that they can verify and redirect the people.” Most ideas remain understandable, and the errors rarely obstruct the message. Some grammatical problems are evident, however: “your team didn’t disappointed me” uses the wrong verb form after “didn’t,” while “All of the employees … really enjoyed every dish” shifts awkwardly from the writer’s experience to the group’s. There are also tense and sentence-pattern inconsistencies, including “One thing I really like to mention” and “I like to suggest in keeping.” Use past forms consistently when describing the event and practise standard patterns such as “I would like to suggest that you keep…” to improve control.
